I have been invited to come work at one of ours (Freakling Brothers), but don't know if I'll have the time (with my grand visions of giant pirate ships) or will be willing to work Halloween night. Talk about a double-edged sword!

i had a group of 8-10 ladies come through the Clown Room one night. 5 hugged the wall and begged for mercy...the rest ....well they "disappeared"...
the FBI only found scant traces of urine and feces in a 3 mile swath of rugged terrain. CSI continues to investigate.

've worked in the Horrorfind Weekends Haunted House, the past 3 years.
It's a non-profit that is the only haunt at the convention. They get so many patrons each night, that they have to turn them away.
2006's theme was Gothic Haunted House.
Priscella Barnes (Devil's Rejects) was a guest & we gave her the vip treatment instead of waiting in line. She came out the exit freaked! She was freaked & laughing at the same time. Said we did an awesome job!!! There was a Vampire author (I forget her name) that was signing her books at the convention. She & her partner decided to check out the haunt. Well she only got 6 feet into it, when she came back through the entrance door. She was so frightened that she couldn't continue. Her partner went on & met her at the exit. He thought it was great but, she was still shaken. After they left & were out of earshot, we announced to the waiting crowd what had just happened. They cheered with delight!!
In 2005 the theme was a Sanitarium.
In the entrance long hallway was a Doctor being attacked by one of the patients. After several hrs of begging for help, I was asked to fill in for the Dr. I put all myself into the part- Screaming begging for help, & reaching out to the patrons for help. They of course didn't want to be involved, (or touched) so their backsides were firmly against the wall, sliding down the passage.

Hubby and I used to work one that was held in an old closed down High School. We had scenes set up in class rooms and several people and I were in charge of spooking the guests in the hallway as they passed from room to room. What a piece of cake that was. The guests would get blinded by lights and strobes in the scene rooms, then wander out into the pitch black hallway and feel their way along the lockers to the next room. Talk about sitting ducks! hehehe
I frightened a woman so bad that she hauled off and punched me HARD. Then as she was exiting the school, she complained to the guys running it that I scared her.
The main guy came straight to me inside and was cracking up, he congratulated me and said to keep up the good work LOL
Working haunts is a blast but be prepared to be kicked, hit and end up sick and voiceless by the end of the run (usually 2 weeks).

I build and worked at them. I can tell you many stories. My fav was making a poor little helpless girl scoput cry TWICE. She came to me 1 year and I was working the door. She said I made her cry last year. So what was I supposed to do? Hug her? NO.....I made her cry again. Another is when I was a headmaster in a boarding school theme house. I used to chase people when they try to run from me.
Some days, it's not even worth chewing through the restraints....
