I was wondering if anyone here knows where I might find glass bottles and jars that have a cork-type opening?
My dad hits the glass recycler at the transfer station near him and my mom runs a restaurant and grabs the empty wine bottles for me but I was looking for other types and styles, too.
Are there stores that sell these in bulk? I googled "glass bottles" but geez, folks want an arm and a leg for them. I can spare the leg ... but I really need the arm for working on props! lol!

I'm saving interesting bottles in case I do some sort of pirate theme (or whatever would require them), but we just drink...

Sangria bottles are neat, as are burgundy, and specialty wines. As far as finding some cheap - ask your alcohol friends!

Do you have a store near you called World Market? They have a large selection of glass bottles in all shapes and sizes and I remember seeing some with corks in them. You would find them in the kitchen/dishware section. They were pretty inexpensive, too.

I bought bottles at Michaels last year like that, and saw plenty of authentic old bottles on ebay too. Even Wal Mart had some.
Cost Plus Imports is another place you may have.

Try thrift stores too, I've found some nifty bottles there. Pier One usually has a few too. Most of ours are of the "recently filled with adult beverages" type I dare say. It's fun to get them that way too!

American Science & Surplus sells laboratory flasks and test tubes at great prices. They also sell the corks for them:

I always hit the local dollar stores, they usually have all kinds of weird shaped bottles with cork tops....not always for only a dollar, but still much cheaper and anyplace else. I picked up about 20 last year for my party and it cost my under $35. Too bad I had to get rid of so many of them afterwards (space, you know???)

Try at a local beer and wine making shop, look in the yellow pages, you can usually buy bottles there at reasonable prices
