I need some ideas for my haunted house this year. The theme is an abandon factory. Thanks in advance!

Is it inside your house or a real factory?

Lots of 'boxes' and barrels. Paint some cardboard boxes to look like crates or even leave them as boxes. If you've got a fog machine, maybe building a 'contraption' that looks like an old steam machine -- have the fog go through a tube and up to the top coming out of a pipe (I wouldn't cool it down either). Make the pipe visible.
Lots of 'metal' and industrial colors/schemes. Rust, silver, black, wooden boxes/crates.
I'll edit this post with more ideas as I think of them.
If you have people helping you out, have them dress up in overalls, construction hats, thick cloves. Have some with welders masks on.
Lots of signs - high voltage (I've got an actual 'high voltage' metal sign which would be perfect! Sorry though, I'm keepin it
), Hard Hat Area, Waste Disposal Area, "Days Since Last Accident - 1".
When I think of abandoned factory, I think of wide open spaces, empty with a few random pieces of machinery and crates around - lots of shadows and dark corners. It's hard to recreate that in a small house (small in regards to a factory).

What made you come up with the abondon factory theme? That may help me come up with more ideas.

Well, I thought it would be a cheap and cool idea. I like "abandon" things. It just sounded awsome. The name of the haunted house is Sci. Co. Factory. (If you read them together, it sounds like psycho factory.)

Not sure how in depth you want to go - since you said you wanted cheap, but you could make a cat-walk - similar to the plexiglass floor idea. Have it raised up a foot or two with railings...
Lots of tubing - like pipes. I think of electrical stuff - sounds and jacobs ladder type of stuff. "Wires" handing down. Big, oversized tools - like those big monkey wrenches. Big windows with lots of panes - a few broken ones.
Umm... hmmm... good theme, but I think tough to accomplish. The 'abandon' part is the tough part to me. I hope those ideas help a little.

Maybe you could add a cafiteria. Have some tables and chairs in the room . Have the Tot's walk past the tables. Put dummies in most of the chairs, but add a couple real people to the mix. Have the real people sit real still and then jump at passers by. Have a snack bar counter covered with body parts, and blood. Let me think of more ideas to post
