This my sound like a stupid post, but I am relly stumped. I have one of those carports from costco, and I don't know what to do with it. I do not need It in
my haunt itself, but I would like to use It out side some how. I was going to use It
to cover people waiting in line, but since my lines get so long that would be pointless. Any ideas.

I use mine to extend my garage that i haunt out of, some properly applied fabric to cover it or cargo netting helps rough it up a bit. I don't know how painting will affect it so I haven't done so. May ruin it or make it impossible to store, plus it has the plastic water resistant coating.

Storing it is a pain in the butt because of the two big boxes. But it has been a huge asset to my haunt. It gives me more room and keeps people from being able to check out the interior of my garage as the walk up from the sidewalk.

it gives you the option of a second haunt also, put some actors in there to mess with people who are waiting in line. Or, since it is a huge obstacle, use it for a way for "line stalkers" (actors who work the lines) to circle their prey.

Not sure how big it is, but could you cover the people, like you said, but in a zig zag queue line sort of way.

But, Mortissanquine had some good ideas.

Those are great ideas mortissanquine, but I don't have anyone willing to work the line they all want to be inside the haunt. Dead ted the size of the canopy is 10' x 20'.

    Ticket booth (if appropriate)
Area to post rules of the haunt
Area to post the 'story' behind the haunt.
I've always wanted just the frame to make into a "covered bridge" to lead into a haunt.
A side show: Display some retired props in there maybe?
An extra room at the entrance or exit.
Easy ones with a carport include a dot room or a 'vortex' type room with the fog machine and laser setup.

    edit:
(I have specialized in gearing things to the wee ones, so bear this in mind)
One little note on ticket booths.

Consider one, even if you're free. Have them turn in the ticket at the end for the treat or something. Reason? One of the most effective scares I've ever seen involved the ticket booth. Nice friendly ticket person asks the little ones their name. Then radios someone inside a seance room in the haunt "blonde girl, red shirt, name Madisson" or something to that effect. Once that girl hits the seance room: "come here Madisson, would you like me to read your future?".

WITHOUT FAIL, it creeps the kids right out the mystic knows their name. We had it spaced to where the seance room was near the end, and most parents were asking how we pulled that off cause even they forgot they had given their names at the start.

You have to have good seperation in your groups to get it to work, though. Steady streams make it difficult.

These are all great ideas. please keep them coming. Any ideas that will fit an asylum theme.I don't want to add any other rooms to my haunt. I need to build something that can sit out front and match my theme.

An inmate in the asylum calling your name would be creepier than a mystic in a seance room...

    hmmm...asylum theme....

A crematorium! Where the patients finally rest.

You'ld need a facade for the outside, with a chimney. You could provide a glow coming off easily enough with some lights, and if you could do it safely, a propane heater would radiate out enough heat to be convincing if the line went by it.

You'ld only need 1/2 of it, but IIRC, the frame on those has a nice place to split in the center.

COULD possibly be made to where a suitible 'corpse' could be stuffed inside by some actors, shut the door, turn it on, glow, heat, they secretly remove the corpse from the back and come back with a 'fresh' one for the now empty crematorium.

Be great if you could provide a smell to correspond...

One time in my mothers house we did a walk through haunt and in the laundry room we took some 'body parts', stockings filled with socks, and stuff like that and just hung them from the ceiling. It was cheap, easy to set up and with the darkness and strobe light made a great creepy walkway to the next 'set'.
