I was wandering around with my camera the other day and decided to get some photos of a couple local roadside graveyards. These are what I base my stones on, and thought I'd post them for everyone. I still have to get another local one, but I'm waiting for the right foggy morning.
These were all taken in the town of Bristol, ME. One fairly well kept graveyard is on State Route 32, and the other neglected one is on Lower Round Pond Road.
I'm just posting a few here, the rest are at photobucket.

wow, great sites for inspiration, i like the one with less upkeep, much spookier.
i have a few good cemeteries close by, maybe i'll take some photos one day....somewhere in the north-woods darkness, a creature walks upright.
And the best advice you may ever get is never to go out…at night.

Dogman, I agree. That's my favorite one. The first time I saw it 10 years ago, all I could think of was Pet Semetary by Stephen King. It's those little gravestones that did it for me.

Graveyards are awesome!! My daughter and I went to one at midnight on Halloween one year.
There is a grave marker in a nearby town - called Erie, no less - that is carved like a tree with skulls on it. I don't know how to post a photo if I get one.

Yes Michigal,
New England graveyards have that "classic" look eh? The ones I knew in California didnt have headstones, just markers set flush in the ground.

Thanks, Ironmaiden, I've visited that site, it's pretty awesome. Here is another link to old graveyards in Mass, Maine and New Hampshire:

Anyone looking for inspiration on their gravestones need look no further than this page.
My DH's family is in and around Amesbury, Mass, and next time we get down there, I'm going to have to check these out. Newburyport, Newbury, Haverhill, and South Hampton (NH) are all close. I could spend all my time there while he visits with his family. Heehee. More fun for me than being with the inlaws. In fact, we often stay with his brother in South Hampton, so that'll work out.
