I was at Michaels today. They had all the jars, bottles, spookytown, and signs and all that stuff. I asked the Manager lady when they would be putting out the rest of the stuff and she told me "thats all of it!" I was in SHOCK! I asked her if they cut down how much halloween stuff they sold since last year and she said yea they did a bit. I am really really disappointed if that is the truth. Anyone hear anything else similar?

I've found in general that their store employees tend to be in the dark regarding what's coming in... last year I called my store towards the end of July and asked if any Halloween stuff had been set yet, the lady said no they don't put it out until October.
I just happened to go in the next day to pick up something for a project and there it was, two isles of Halloween and a massive display in the middle of the isle.
So I would say hang in there... ya never know!

The Michaels closest to my house has one row of Halloween stuff out and, as of yesterday, they had the two rows next to it cleared out completely in preparation for the rest.

In my recent experience, its been kinda "hit or miss". I've been to 4 Michaels in the DC Metro area in the past couple of weeks, each with varying amounts of Halloween stuff.

Yeah I've pretty much come to the conclusion the Michael's employees areclueless, and that asking them any quesitons is a big waste of time.

I'll second that! Tried to get them to help find basic foam glue and we trekked all over the store until they figured out it was with the craft glue! *Argh* Our store has both sides of 2 large rows filled with Lemax, other decorator type stuff, potion bottles, ribbons and candles. I think maybe they just don't know how much they'll eventually have because ours never can give a straight answer about what & when something seasonal (Halloween) will be in stock. At the height of the season the giant center aisles are crammed with goodies (crystal ball madame, Lady Mummy, other electronic/animatronic goodies.) They can always be counted on to put stuff on sale before The Day too!

Hey, them's fightin words. I'm a Michaels Department manager. And I know where everything in the store is. Ask a manager when you go to Michaels. The rest are part time school kids for the most part, and they neither know nor care. But the Full time Michaels associates are pretty well informed. When it comes to seasonal stuff, the Floral Department Manager (not the designer) or the Assistant Manager are in charge of most of it. We will be getting our shipment here in Houston on Tuesday next week and It has lots of Dimensional lighting, enough to fill a 12' long display in the aisle, and our usual craft supplies for Halloween. On my truck today I got about 40 cases of pumpkins.
We are forbidden from disclosing when things will go on sale, and it's easier to say you don't know than try to explain why to most people.
It's better to try to find someone who knows something and try to make friends with them than to just assume that everyone is stupid. There are stupid uncaring people in every industry. No one can make you do anything you don't want to do, right?

My wife works at a Michael's (Event Coordinator) and she says if you really need help...ask the Coordinator as this person not only knows where everything is...they know how to use it too!
