I was just thinking of doing a forest scene for inside my garage. How can I do this? I was thinking little red riding hood/evil Red riding hood, witches, wolfman, crystal lake scene. I have back drop to look like forest, what else would I need? or can I use? You guys have been great with my other ideas I just need a little help with brainstorming. How or can I add trees to the mix I have a corner where I think it would good.

If you live in the northern States you may be able to locate a Christmas Tree Farmer who may lend you live trees in burlap root bags. THAT would blow people away. Background sounds of Crickets, Frogs and Ravens. That "Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch, Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha" Soundtrack from Friday the 13th. A few Pool Noodles (Snakes) on the floor. A winding path through the garage, I can just see it.
It's a great concept, but be prepared for a lot of work.Wolfman

Hey there! Old newspapers make good, large surfaces to paint background scenes on. If you have any leftover tomato cages, putting one upright on top of one turned upside down makes a good form for trees too. Good luck!

I do live in the northern states as far north without being in Canada that is. I am ready for a lot of work, nothing comes easy. I have friend who will help this year so I am not flying solo.
Snakes good idea, I have many snakes, pool noodles would that not make some rather large snakes? Tube cement how do you make those into trees?

Don't forget a Arachnophobia Arbor: You can use an arbor, doorway or wooded area to create this castle for spiders. Use packaged spider webs to stretch and drape around the pathway. Remember the less web you use, the more realistic. Leave some fibers to blow in the wind so they can freely brush and pull on passers-by. After the web is built, String up five and dime spiders with nylon string. The more the better with this display—make sure use enough crawlies to really creep out the crowds,or your party guest.
Collect dead branches
· Make them hang with a wire in front of the entry door of the house. Hang them by two or three, so that they are making noise and moving with the wind
Ask your florist to put aside the dead flowers for you. If they are not dry enough, suspend them the head down during a few days, in order to make them dry.
· Spary them with shiny black painting and fold some stems to create a morbid environment.
Make bouquets with the dead leaves
· Decorate the table or the dresser with dead leaves.
· Make a heap of leaves and let some boots, a hat and gloves (which you will have stuffed of cotton pads) come out of it .
Everyone will believe that there is really a person under the dead leaves!
Oh and don't forget to use spanish moss, you can hang that on anything and will look creepy in the dark!
hth!

Another approach is a more theatrical one - flats out of large panels cut into weird tree silhouettes - stylized. Paint stylized, possibly with flourescents and black light and color light for effect. Scrims a row or two back for a fog shrouded look...

Spiders, how could I forget Spiders??
Years ago when my now Adult kids were 10 and 8 wespent three days on Kauai. I had lived there for awhile when I was single and wanted to see how it had changed. Well, the Island had been invaded by the Brown Tree Snake and had started to loose birds. the snakes eat their eggs. One late afternoon while hiking we came upon an area of forest that was THICK with Spider webs, right across the trail. No eggs, no birds to eat the Spiders. An eerie sight, it was late, just before sundown and the sun was shining through the web. The wife an kids were scared, wanted to go back the way we came, but it would be dark before we got back to the car if we did that. I had bought a machete for the hike and we hacked through. I remember my son behind me humming the theme from "Indiana Jones", and saying, "Man, we should have this in our Haunted House".Wolfman

For a tree just wire a few large dead limbs together, put it in a large bucket or container, fill with sand or gravel.Hide container with moss or leaves.Just to be on the safe side, you might secure the "tree" to the wall with wire and a few screw hooks.
How about a witch with a smoking, bubbling cauldron (dry ice or fogger).Put orange and yellow lights underneath for a "fire" effect and maybe some green ones inside for an eerie effect.
And maybe a few of those battery operated bats that fly in a circle?
You said you had alot of snakes.Have you seen the realistic rattlesnake at "Things You Never Knew Existed"? I forgot I had ordered one of those last year and darn near fainted when I opened the box...lol.Who truly knows what awaits us in the night?
