Hi I have been doing an asylume themed haunt for the last five years. Now I think it is time for a change. I would like to do a mulit themed haunt where all the rooms have their own themes. If anyone has tried this could you please give me some info about room themes that work. So far I have A clown room,
a dot room, and a hospital room. I also have A huge amount of pallets that I would like to use in one of the themes, but I don't know what. Any ideas please. Thanks p.s. I like my haunt rooms to be gory, and disturbing.

I'm personally a fan of the classic movie monsters, and it's easy to get a room for each: Mummy, dracula, frankenstein, etc. Little more difficult for Wolfman, creature from the black lagoon, etc.
Then of course, you could go with the slashers. Freddy, Jason, etc.
Pallets...
hmmm....
One I've never seen done, classic movie, would work well with pallets, would be The Thing from Another World.
Pallets also make good bridges and/or walls with light shining from beneath/behind them.
If you want more generic ideas.
Mad scientist rooms are always fun and always seem a favorite.
If you have a hospital room, the morgue would be a natural room to follow.

Thanks for the ideas unorthodox. I was also thinking of doing a corn field room
With corn stalks, scare scrows, crows, hay, blue flood lights, fog, and a chain saw. I was also thinking of doing a death row theme with a hallway full of cells leading up to a room with an electric chair. how would I go about nameing a haunt with multiple themes, that do not go along. I would like my haunt to flow as much as possible.

Well, if you're not worried about 'outside' type themes being inside (like the cornstalks and scarecrows) a headhunter/witchdoctor setup is another fun theme.
As for flow, I've always liked it when houses don't neccessarily do 1 room per theme, but a couple rooms that go together in sequence.
For instance, you could have a 'room' with the entrance to your 'hospital, where you enter the insane asylum to run into the 'hospital room' to run into the morgue. They are all similarly themed, yet seperate, and there is an entrance to the general theme, and the morgue makes a natural exit.
And the dot room kinda fits with the clowns, so maybe a room dedicated to enterring the circus area. You could have a nice pitch man out front giving a spiel, then enter into the clown room, on to the dot room where you exit into the next general theme.
Some rooms work well for transitioning from one general theme to another, such as graveyards, corn fields, etc.
The death row idea works well, because each cell can have it's own little theme. You could have a nice fence area to have them enter the prison through 'the yard' and into death row. Have one cell with someone who hung themselves, another with a whacko tossing his bed/chair/whatever at the bars, another in a straight jacket, etc. Then the chair at the end. Have em exit out an 'escape tunnel' in a wall.
I totally suck at naming, sorry. But "manor" "castle" "mansion" seem to be common themes for haunts with multiple themes, for you can work in the story how the builder worked all those into their design of the (fill in the blank).

LOVE the cornfield idea. I hate corn fields...have creeped me out since I was little. Never thought about it potentially being strange to have it inside...but love it. We may do a body-bag room this year...sounded fun. I'm not to creative...our rooms didn't flow much at all unless "death" was what tied them together. We had a funeral parlor, spider room (with coffins), mad man room (had a table in it with a big hole cut out. put fake legs at one end, I had my legs through the table and had a mask and elbow lenght decayed arms on with a sheet over my head and a "skin" over my chest. Everyone assumed I was a dummy or possibly pneumatic...they all freaked out when I actually sat up and started reaching for them), our last room was an electric chair room with a hidden wall. The actor first jumped out of the electric chair after it went off...then as they screamed laughed and started to walk out the door our chainsaw guy leaped out behind them and chased them out of the yard. Was great fun! Sooo...that is all we did room wise. Trying to find a better way to tie things together this year. We want to do a small 2 room "non gore" area for little kids...then the other walk through with 4 rooms and a hall.
Good luck!!!

Unorthodox you have inspired me to continue with my prison asylum theme. Your ideas for the cells, and escape tunnel were great. If you, or anyone else have any other room idease that would fit an asylume theme I would love to hear them. Also is their a way I could fit clown room in an asylum themed haunt. Thank you so much.

I liked my corn field idea to , but I decided to skip the multi theme and just do an asylum. The only problem is I need new ideas for rooms.

I would also like to add a body-bag room too my haunt. And I would Aslo like to add aroom for unstable children. The room will contain disturbing writting on the walls, disgusting dolls, vomit on the walls, blood, guts, cribs, and lots of beds. I am still in great need of asylume themed rooms. I am open to any ideas anyone has.
