Every time I hear a thunderstorm comming, I set out my microphones and start recording it into my computer.
We have had several pretty good thunderstorms lately and I have extracted the highlights for everyone. I chose the best thunderclaps I got that did not have (much) rain in the background.
These storms seemed to move in first with the thunder and lightning, then the rain, and more thunder. I got several good claps before the heavy rain, and in one case hail started hitting us.
Thought you might like some real authentic thunderclaps that have not been processed and don't sound fake. I set my recording levels so that they did not clip even with the biggest claps, so these are clean sound to play at very high audio levels without hurting your speakers. I will be playing them at about 600 watts.
At least you won't have the same old thunder sounds from the disney album again this year.

Halloween Bob,
Thank you for this post. I hope the hail didn't cause any major damage."Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. Double, double toil and trouble-- Something wicked this way comes "

No damage, small pellet sized hail stones. It was just a rather severe storm.
Made a lot of noise.
It was good that I had my UPS system hooked up on my computers because the lighning was really close and the power kept flickering.

HalloweenBob,
I am glad there was no damage.
Remember that there is no UPS that will protect you or your equipment from a direct lightning strike.
Thank you again."Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. Double, double toil and trouble-- Something wicked this way comes "

I know that about my UPS. I take my chances. I just don't want the power going out while I try to record my storms.
