My husband and I are going to take donations to St. Jude this year at our haunt. Do a walk through on the weekend then halloween night. They are sending me a ton of promotional stuff, etc.
Was wondering if you all that do donations have any tips for us? Things that have worked, things that haven't? We don't care if we bring in a lot of cash...just that we get some awareness out, etc. But of course want to avoid any issues that may come up as well.
We were thinking of doing a lights on "scare free" night the weekend before for younger kids. Any other good ideas?

Sorry I don't have any tips for you as we have a Party and not a Haunt, but two years ago at our party at the Bar we had a "Tip Jar" that was for donations for Childrens Hospital, and last year we had people bring a Can Food item for the Food shelter.
I think it is great when you can combine the fun and hard work you do to also do something for others! And people feel good about Donating!!
So all I can do is wish you Good Luck!Man cannot live on bread alone.... (unless he is in a cage and that is all you feed him.)

I have been doing a haunt for charities for the past 3 years. We do a free will donation that way it is not an admission charge, you avoid a lot of red tape. They exposed me a lot with flyers, emails and a ton of psa's to the radio stations. Unfortunately I cant find a charity this year that wants to do this. Last year I was with American Red Cross this year they have a new director who is giving me the brush off
