I hooked up with an old friend again and come to find out he has got his hands in with our local Utica zoo. This is a very nice small old zoo that is way under funded by the city and state. Every year the zoo holds a spooktacular for a couple weekends in October. It is a walk through tour with 13 or 14 different stations for the tots to stop at. Some stations are indoor some are out. Different local business's take a station and supply the candy to hand out. It's kind of a trade off. cheap advertisment for a few pounds of candy. Problem is that most do not do much of anything to dress out or set their station. Mostly just give out a few pieces of candy with their flyer.

A few years back i had the chance to set one of the rooms for the company i was working for. It was a lot of fun to do and I already know the layout.
Well this year I may have the chance to set an indoor room with my props. I have a sponser for the candy and their will be no cheap flyer hand outs. Just a small sign with his business logo below our Burrhill Bone-Yard sign. I just have to get another friend to do the signs for me but i'm sure that would not be a problem. I know i could set a room that would be the talk of the zoo considering what others have done. No real haunters to compete with.

There are a few problems that need to be addresed first. First their is an issue of security for my props. Making sure no one walks off with anything at the times i can not be there. The other problem is the props. Our Bone-Yard at home has traffic that i can control. Keeping space between folks for prop triggering. Most of our props are motion sensored and at the zoo the traffic would be constant. I have to see if i can work this out. Last is the weekends of the event itself. I have to leave at least 10 days to set the Bone-Yard at home so i have to find out if we can work this out as far as the schedule of the zoo weekends. I put a few pics of the the low budget work we did a few years back on our web site. Just follow the in the news link when you get there. Also a link for this great little zoo. Any suggestions on the triggering problem would be a lot of help. Hope everyone is having a good summer hard to beleive the time for 07 haunters is so close.

Well, I really can’t be of any help with your questions but I just wanted to say that it’s great you get to do a zoo!!! How about a “grim sheeper” area? LOL (Stolen from the “Even sheep enjoy a good haunt” thread in the props section).
