Hello Ghouls and Ghosts, my name is Grimnir, buy you can call me Grimm for short. Being new to these forums, let me express my delight at the collection of like minded individuals I've found here.
Now to business.
For the last three years the folks at Spooka Minooka and I have used the Waukesha 4th of July parade as a bit of advertising. We dress and march in the parade. And scare all the folks along the parade route. Good Fun.
Now comes the problem.
We've had some complaints that we were too scary. Moreover I was too scary. Imagine if you will a seven and a half foot tall creature decked out in rags, skulls, chains and barb war. I won't say that I'm not that scary. I am terrifying. But I have my morals, If someone is already scared by my very visage, I do not' pursue they further. If the parents are shielding their childs eyes, I don't linger. If someone is freaking out, I more along. I am nice by my standards. But the squawking wheels are getting listened to and out tenure of marching in the parade is in jeparody. It could be just the folks that don't like halloween in general. The 'Holy Rollers" and "Bible thumpers" that have nothing better to do that attempt to smite evil wherever it lies. But there are countless multitudes that like what we do, most folks laugh and have fun with us spooking, and some who think we are the best thing there. I have fans following me to the end of the parade, to get pictures. And mind you that suit weighs in at just under fourty pounds, there is no skin showing but my eyes and my mouth. And my legs are throbbing. But I make sure that they all get what they want.
Folks have always seemed to try to crap in other people's corn flakes, don't they.
I guess the rant's over, and I'm sorry for dumping, but I would like to know what others think, and if anyone has been in a similar situation, and how they handled it.
Thanks everyone for their input, I think this will be the beginning of a long and demented relationship.

Would love to see pictures of your creature!! I hope people don't keep you from being in the parade again, there's always some one who thinks anything halloween related is evil. Hopefully in your case, they don't have too much influence! Good luck!
I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!

I can see the kids being scared of a 7 foot tall monster, but some people just over react. It is a shame though that a few people can ruin fun for the rest, but squeaky wheels don't always get greased. sometimes they get removed.

HEres my crew for the fourth. I'm in the back. The reason the photo sucks is that Helser doesn't know how to use his camera!

I actually like your costume but then again I don't have much experience with Holy Rollers and I don't have kids. As long as more people like your costume than hate it I think you should be able to sport it. Besides, at the very least you must be making the parade more interesting.
Something wicked this way comes...

Personally, I love your costume! However, since it seems you’re in jeopardy of losing your parade rights perhaps you could tone down the costume? Losing the stilts would help but that is what makes the costume. I guess it just depends on how badly you want to continue to be in the parade. It’s a shame others have to “rain on your parade” (sorry, couldn’t help myself!) But, the cold, hard fact is that there are many who don’t share our love of Halloween and all that is scary so the trick is to adjust around them. Poor unfortunate souls don’t know what they’re missing out on!
Btw, I love the truck...very creepy looking!"Look what your brother did to the door!" Original TCM
