Does anyone buy gifts for others at Halloween? Last Christmas at work was horrendous with everyone giving little gifts to each other. I mean, you can only use so many santa clause mugs filled with red and green candy. It was then that I decided I’m not going to do Christmas gifts at work anymore, instead I’ll do Halloween gifts.
I’ve looked at Oriental Trading and Rhode Island novelties but their items are mostly geared toward kids. Other than Halloween socks and mugs, any ideas for adult Halloween gifts that aren’t too expensive? I have 16 people to buy for and three are men. Also, it can’t be anything death related (grim reapers, tombstones, etc.) do to the nature of my workplace. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Well, why not fight fire with fire and give out plastic JOLs filled with black and orange candy?
Actually, that's kind of what I did at work. I just brought in candy bags for everyone. Or you can pose a small witch, or Frankenstein inside of it. I gather you work in a hospital? Maybe a vampire to the phlebotomy dept?
And you can always stick with the "harvest" type gifts if you want to stay P.C.
Although it's too late for this year, hit the clearance sales at your local RiteAid, CVS, Walgreen's or whatever next year, if you want to pick up "decor" at a cheap price.
Others will probably come up with better ideas, but it's a start.

I knew a lot of nurses and rad techs that had those bone shaped pens on lanyards. They loved 'em.

This is actually a new tradition I started with my family last year. We are posted out west but our family is in southern Ontario. We planned a trip home in the fall and I decided that since we all enjoy Halloween that it would be much more fun to bring gifts with us in September as oppposed to mailing them for Christmas. It also allows you to be more creative. I bought a lot of stuff online: Grim Reaper hot sauce in a coffin shaped box, a Manic Panic gift coffin full of make-up, gelatin molds, Scarecrow fangs, etc. I also found a lot of really good horror flicks on sale at WalMart and Chapters has some of the classics on sale from time to time. I bought small cauldrons to hold everything and tied them together with black netting, orange ribbon, and spiders. It went over really well and I enjoyed shopping for the stuff. Then when Christmas comes around you can just sit back, relax, and watch everybody else scurry around the mall in a panic.
Something wicked this way comes...

Thanks all for the great suggestions! Vampire to the phlebotomy department is a wonderful idea I hadn’t thought of! And the bone pens would work very well too. Now if we could only get everyone to do Halloween gifts instead of Christmas gifts, as Wonderfully Wicked does, we’d be all set!!

I started giving gifts for Halloween at work last year. I found some great gift boxes at the clearance table at Hallmark Summer and found clip on character pins, candy, Fall magnetic memo pads & pencils, icing decorator bags from Target, carmel apples from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and other stuff. It went over great. Whatever you decide people will love it!
