    Hey guys,

I'm Michael Bruner, the guy who runs the PA Gathering, and I'm the one to blame for all the posts about it.

Believe it or not, I really hate spamming all the time, but this year it's really different and I just wanted to talk to all of you on the halloween forum as people, not just a faceless computer screen.

The PA Gathering has 13 vendors this year AND Creey Hollow is liquidating the entire contents of it's haunt at our event. The vendors are selling product at bargain prices because we dont charge table fees.

I know it sounds like a commercial and I apologize, but really, in all honesty, if you could'nt afford Transworld, or Hauntcon, or any other event that charges a ton of money, then this is your one time as a home/yard/party haunter to buy stuff at (darn near almost) wholesale prices.

Look, dont take my word for it, ask around to anyone who's been to the PA Gathering in the past and they will tell you. Our event is more about friendship and socializing than about making a buck. This year, the vendors are coming out in droves, and this is the chance of a lifetime for a home haunter to really, honest to goodness, stack up on supplies without a ton of money being wasted on things like shipping and handling and vendors arent jacking up prices trying to recoup the cost of paying union fees (like they do at some other conventions)

Anyhoo - I will gladly speak to anyone one on one if they have any questions about the PA Gathering.

    Hey Michael!

I SO wish I could come up from Florida for this event! Maybe we can start one down here... but that's an idea for another thread.

I honestly am glad that you touched on the cost of the major haunt gatherings. I'd love to go and I am no stranger to traveling for conventions but I can't believe the amount of money the haunt 'industry' expects people to pay to attend these events and/or trade shows! I mean good Lord!!!

Does anyone who attends these events care to post approximately how much they spend for the weekend? Obviously conventions cost a lot to put on but if you're going to charge an outrageous admission all the seminars and events should be covered by that admission!

And have you noticed the websites for these gatherings (not the PA one) *hide* the actually costs many times?

Has anyone here ever attended DragonCon in Atlanta? This is HUGE convention that covers many genres and depending on how far in advance you buy your tickets you pay $45-$85. And what do you get for that money? Concerts, meet and greets with celebs, dealer's room access, trade show access, parties, games and even a bloody parade! It covers three hotels!!

But go to HauntCon and you have to pay extra to go into a costume ball?? Outrageous I say... OUTRAGEOUS!

Someone is making LOTS of money on many of these 'pro' haunt gatherings. And I can't see the cost being justified even if you run a pro haunt. I'm not saying people don't enjoy themselves there- I know they do. But think how much more people would enjoy it if they had more money left in their wallet at the end!

Sorry to rant but its been bothering me for some time!

Thanks for doing what you guys are doing Michael!

I had intended on going to Hauntcon and due to circumstances etc., etc., I missed it. But frankly, as I reviewed the site and looked at what was available, I was quite surprised at all of the "little" fees. Especially to pay for the ball!

I'm going to Ironstock (want to caravan Greencapt?) and even tho' they have finally broke down and begun charging admission, I still think it is what they and the PAgathering all were meant to be~For Haunters By Haunters!

One day I would love to visit the PA meet, I think it is marvelous!
