Recently, I've been seeing quite a few clown dolls at my local thrift stores. I've been an Evil Clown for a few years now handing out treats. So I'm thinking of collecting them for my Halloween display. I could easily alter their painted faces to be MUCH scarier. Subtle...but evil! Maybe even have them hold bloody knives?

    Then what?

The dolls are all about 18 inches tall. At $3-5 each, it might take me a while to get a big gang of them. This might be a two year project!

So what would YOU do with a dozen or so Evil Clown dolls?

Scare the snot out of people.
My 36 year old daughter is scared to death of clowns, no matter what size they are.
And I find that a lot of other people are too.
A room full of scary clowns would be a great way to see who can hold their bladder and who can't.

I have no fear of clowns, but now, dolls...those are another story.
Why am I shivering, remembering SK's story "Battleground?"
Maybe you could have a scene where your killer clown dolls are coming through or
underneath a door to attack with their knives.

There is lots of things to do with clown dolls.
Demented circus, What dolls do after lights out, etc.
Shine a light at a doll in a menancing pose, to shadow on a wall (life size shadow)

A couple of movies come to mind for inspiration: Dolls, Demonic toys, Puppet Master, Doll Graveyard.

I love the doll scare thing, like polterguist were the clown doll looks at the little boy then vanishes under the bed then when he looks under the bed it grabs him......... I am working on a clown/doll prop for this year- the haunted nursery scene. 2 ft clown doll that is sitting in an old rocking chair. When people enter the scene room a low light turns on & shines on the rocking chair in a corner. The chair will rock 3 or 4 times then stop & have the head of the doll slowly turn from a sideways position to look at them & then in a childs voice from a speaker mounted behind it say
" I don't like you,you don't play with me anymore" & for the adults " I don't like you,i'm going to kill you" then start the chair rocking again with a childs evil type laugh, then light off. Room will have things like a babies bastinette with a corpse baby blood trails, etc.

When you look in the mirror at midnight, what looks back at you.............

We have a separate area where we just pose our 18" movie character figures by candlelight except that area will be retired this year for a new set-up.

Perhaps have the clown dolls in a fight scene with each other with lots of bloody guts and entrails. If they’re poseable, put limbs in an backward, skewed type of pose that just doesn’t look right. I always find that creepy. We have a demented circus area so I’d use clown dolls there. I’m going to start looking in our thrift shops here. Thanks for the tip!

Dark lord: I like the haunted nursery idea! Love to see pics when it’s done.

How about oversized Jack-in-the-box. It can either be an air ram set-up or with the classic "the monkey chased the weasle" music box theme going, or have someone inside turn the crank handle from inside then pop out in a demented/evil clown costum !

Thought I’d post this to get you in the evil clown mood. It’s a new prop we’ll be using this year.

I am really liking the idea of a haunted nursery!

I give out toys instead of candy anyway...so it's a perfect tie-in. Maybe I can tweak my evil clown into an evil nanny! The 'haunted toys' can hang from the ceiling...and I am DEFINITELY stealing that rocking chair prop idea. Doll parts hanging from the ceiling might be fun as well. Maybe the kids can draw those baby shower rattles (numbered) for their treats.

Hmmm. Lots to think about on c-c-cold winter nights. <evil laugh>

SInce you're planning on gettig a bunch of them..I would sort of hide them all over the place. Maybe some inside the house peeking out the window w/ a maniacle grin, a few hiding in the bushes around your house. Put them in enexpected places, maybe some clown shoes hanging out of your trunk, or a few on your swing set if you have one..hm mm....so many things you could do with a bunch of clowns!!
