Tis the season to keep a close watch on the big clearance items at Curby's.

Watch out for your neighbors throwing away those animated deer with non working lights or bent frames. The all weather motors are often still good, and the wiring from the dead light sets is what I use for my LED projects, not to mention using the frames for that wolf conversion.

White styrofoam. Everyone and their brother got SOMETHING that came packed in white styro. Often the pieces are big enough to use as headstones, and the smaller odd shaped pieces can be cut down to make brick or stone facades.

Look for those blow up units being thrown away, I have yet to score one, but I know they'd make a wonderful base for a fake fire.

Here are our finds from last Monday night.

Two animated deer with working motors, and a like new 10" compound mitre saw. We also got a nice high backed chair to use as haunt furniture, and several small planter containers perfect for witches cauldrons.

Max, I noticed the saw in a huge pile of stuff at the curby when I dropped my daughter of at her friends house around 3pm. It wasn't until almost 8 that night when I remembered to tell Vlad about what I had seen. Besided it was New Years Day and I don't think to many construction workers had to work that day. Besides it was raining all day and the saw was in a pile with other stuff all day just waiting for the arrival of the garbage truck Tuesday morning.

Awesome point - I tend to overlook these things as annoyances. I'll be buggin' people for the styro next time I find out they've got something big! And though Xmas (and the great clean-up that follows) is over, will be watching the curbs nite!-before-trash-day Thanks!

Chunks of styrofoam and even old Laundry detergent bottles can be good for putting a full-head mask on to keep it from collapsing in a self-destructive heap.
Dryer lint can be tied into little balls to simulate real mice to scare people with rodent phobias. Of course the lint has to be sort of grey not some bright dayglo color.
