Ok at the risk of sounding like a jerk here, I have to jump on your butt babygirl,
Perhaps for a Homehaunter, spfx masks are abit out of budget, but for you to say that they are not worth the price is wrong, spfx masks are made of platinum silicone,( Expensive) the time and effort in making a silicone mask is no joke either, as the website claims time saved on having a Makeup artist do a character over the course of one season is the cost of one of these masks that will last many many years, with proper care..... If you go to my website, look under reent work-FREEK, you can see my very own attempt at a silicone mask..... anyway not even really getting on your butt, just pointing out that negative opinions are just that...negative...heh Check out my work at www.bodybagging.com

$575 (after shipping) for a terrifically lifelike mask which will last a long, long time and moves like a professional make-up job WITHOUT the hassle of said make-up job... I'd say that's an awfully fair price. Large-scale haunts should take notice of such products; talk about good investment and reliable scares, and time saved on make-up sessions...
For small scale and home haunters, hey if you have the bread do it, but it's not for everyone. But around $600 for that product is quite reasonable to me.

Hey Mike, the Majority of Large haunts do incorporate at least one spfx mask in their queline entertainment, I personally will not wear a mask for any reason, BUT I have the Zombie mask and WILL wear it if time restraints prevent me from doing a pro makeup job for a event.......

As a house painter by trade, I can relate. I do quality work with only top of the line products, and you just cant compare that to the guy that comes along and blows on a thin coat of paint he just picked up at big lots. Yes the masks are expensive, but it is obvious that a lot of time and work goes into them so you just cant compare them to your mass produced in china masks you pick up elsewhere. But I see where home haunters are coming from when they look at the prices of all the really cool stuff, we all love the holiday and want the best, and it is expensive to have the best.

A $600.oo silicone mask could be too easilly tucked under someone's coat or shirt and then you will never see it again!
Stealing $29.oo masks is one thing, but $600!!?
(Of course stealing something that expensive might make the Policemen and the judge take the whole thing alot more seriously and actually prosecute to the fullest extent of the law?)"My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

Gym, If I had a 600.00 mask they would have to pry it off my dead body to steal it, It definitly would not be stuck on a prop somewhere.

A diamond necklace worth ten times that can be stolen even more easily; it's about how close you're going to let it get to potential thieves.
I don't see how someone would be able to steal a full overhead, chest/back plated, tight silicone headpiece off of the performer wearing it without getting his thieving arse kicked before he even got one tug on a corner.
Now I suppose they could steal it off a dummy prop, but then... is there really ANY point in using this particular series of masks for dummy decor? I mean, who would (even if they could afford it otherwise) spend $600 for a mask, only to be used lifelessly on a dummy?
Also I honestly can't think it would be that easy to tuck any of these masks under a shirt or coat without being way too obvious; they're all overhead and chest plated... and have you seen the ears on the vampire mask?
As with any high dollar prop, I can think of plenty of reasons why I would NOT buy such a product... but potential thievery is only very rarely one of them.
