I think that the version I read was in a compilation of 'True' ghost stories. It was several years ago, but the one I read was presented in "just the facts, ma'am" style and didn't have anything much more than a retelling of the accounts of the day. I remember that the other ghost stories in the book were kinda dry...but the Bell witch one stood out because the 'facts' were supposedly documented and frighteningly real.
Thanks for the "Season of the Witch" recco. I'm going to order that from my library today!

well i really was lloking forward to see the movie and i liked the trailer, kinda surprises me that all of you don't like it...
anyhow, i guess i will see it if it evers hits the german cinemas...
