I know many of us are planning for 2007's Halloween already but I thought I'd point out that due to a leap year we'll have a Friday Halloween for 2008!
Aside from conflicting with many people's party plans, I prefer Fri/Sat night Halloweens as more people are willing to go out and ToT on nights they possible don't have work or school the next day.
I'm also thinking of finally doing a walk-through haunt but I might just wait for '08 for maximum impact.

My son pointed this out a few days ago while we were talking about Halloween. I personally can't wait for it to be on Saturday. All day to prepare and historically a good turnout. Friday nights aren't bad either. The downside is GW's brilliant plan to back Daylight saving's time off by a week. Half of TOT hours will be in the light/dusk. Maybe the next administration will figure out it's a dumb idea, and revert to the traditional schedule.

Could someone explain to me why we even still have the clocks moving around thing?
World War Two has been over with for a very long time now. Wasn't it a concept from then to increase war production? (Somehow?) that is all I know about it, so it seems very unnecessary, maybe there is more to it than that???
Maybe it was a plot by the clock companys because you just know that a certain number of timepieces would break when played with thereby needing replacement=$ ??"My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

Fridays are nice for Hallowe'en. As a werewolf, I'm very much in tune to the Lunar Phases; we'll have almost NO moon for Hallowe'en 2008. For 2009 however, we almost get a Blue Moon! Hallowe'en of 2020 will be an authentic Blue Moon. And, depending on where you live, it should rise right at 7:00 PM. A Tailor Made Moon!

Greencapt,
Thanks for the heads up on that!
I love it when Halloween falls on a Friday or Saturday night...there are more TOT's out it seems and it's easier to entice folks to come to a party since they don't have to typically go to work the next day.
I was excited about looking towards Halloween 2007...now even moreso for 2008!I came here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. I'm all out of bubble gum.

Ack, now I've got 2008 Halloween on the brain - help, overload!!
I always thought they extended days with Daylight Savings Time to decrease energy (gas/electric) consumption. Could be wrong though...just wish they'd extend TOT hours to go with the later sundown!Haunt to Live ... Live to Haunt

I thought that the new change was to allow companies to forgo 'daylight pollution emmission' regulations for a few more weeks each year. I'm not that familiar with the whole argument, only that environmentalists were tearing their hair over it.
We don't have TOT on Fridays here because it conflicts with High School football. And 'round here, NOTHING is allowed to interfere with THAT!

You just made my Halloween with this wonderful news. Here I was a little down that a Friday Halloween was so far off but now that I know it will be 2008, I know I can make it one heck of a scare in my neighborhood. By then, I should have two or three animated props, a working drop panel, and my Grim Reaper Stalkaround. I'm so exited.
