I bought one of these this year:

And I think it works very very well. I was happy with the small investment considering the much higher priced ones out there.

I've attached a picture of the 2 different foam cutters I was able to find locally this year, one of which is the same as what Greencapt posted above (it's a combo pic I used earlier this year to help someone). The version on the left I found at Michael's for $9.99 (use one of the newspaper 40% off coupons & you can get it for less) and the version on the right I found at Jo-Ann fabrics for $19.99. I don't know where exactly Wilson, NC is, but if you should happen to have a Garden Ridge near you or a Jo-Ann fabrics or Michael's, then you should be able to find one or the other of the cutters there. Just so you know, at all the craft places I've been, I've always found the foam cutters with the foam pieces for fake flower arrangements. Hope the info helps.

I have the one pictured on the left and it works well for me. I bought it new off of Ebay about 2 years ago and I think (with shipping) I paid about $9 for it.

Thanks for posting this up erie_pa_halloween_guy, I'm thinking I want to make a few headstones next year.

What paint has worked well in the past, if you don't mind my asking?

if you type "hot wire cutter" inot google or yahoo you will get plans for quite a few of them.
I used to have super powers until my therapist took them away.

Thank for the info on the styrofoam cutters everyone. I have to put together 4 more dungeon walls next year and I didn't want to burn out another dremel.

I made this one this year from a Sears soldering gun. Just remove the soldering tip (2 screws), bend two brass rods (these can be found at any hardware store), I then flattened the ends a little, drilled very small holes in them and ran a thin copper wire that I stripped from a piece of coated electrical wire between the two posts. Nice things about this style are that it only gets hot when you pull the trigger, it's plug-in, so no batteries to drain, the wire is easily replacable, it cuts like a laser and when your done, you can always put the solder tip back in with no harm done! Oh, and by varying the size and shape of the holding rods, it will cut any size pattern you want.
