We had so many people ask on Halloween whether we'd leave it up a few more nights so friends and coworkers and grandchildren could come by. And people who didn't have their cameras and wanted to come back. Fine with me - I couldn't have gotten the ship taken apart Tuesday night anyhow. I had planned to take in all the pirates, but after all the requests I figured I'd just go ahead and celebrate the Days of the Dead and take stuff down on Friday instead.
After months of planning and building, I'm ready for it to come down. But I gave in to the pressure of my fans <grin>

For us, it will definately be Friday/Saturday before it gets all in. We're breaking it down piecemeal, and deciding what we're going to keep or what to let go and try again next year (like the tombstones that didn't fare well).

We think the magic of Halloween is to make it all disappear by midnight. Of course we are workaholics.

We still have our pirate ship and all other decor up because
1. we are having a halloween party this saturday
2. The mast is 15 feet tall and has 8 bags of concrete as a base and I can't move it without lots of help!! (hence the party on saturday

We have taken the graves in, and started the knock-down of the cave. Wiring has all been taken in, so the four remaining props, 2 Witches, a Scarecrow and a Ghost, are in the dark at night. We have a full-grown Rottweiller so no worries about vagrants passing through. EVERYTHING will be neatly tucked away by Sunday afternoon. Sigh.

Oh yeah, everything's still up, with no definite take-down deadline. We're expecting more Santa Ana winds next week, so we'll probably try to get stuff put away before then. Plus, my in-laws want to come over to see everything (they came by on Monday so my father-in-law could troubleshoot the pneumatics, so I should say they want to see everything working).

All the outside stuff came down yesterday, packed away in the garage until next year. Really glad too as it's snowing wet and heavy here today. The inside is being dismantled a bit at a time and by tmorrow night will be a memory. It's kind of like Christmas decorating for us. Fun to put up and enjoy, but after a month, we're ready to pack it up for another year. Geez, in three weeks I'll be digging out the Xmas stuff!

I took it down yesterday evening. I am plotting how I can get it back up for Christmas. A Christmas Carol theme seems like a good excuse.
