what was your best experiance this halloween.
For me it was when al lthe little kids would come into the house to get there candy befor leaving the haunt, and seeing there faces it was aperant that they were sacared stiff, WONDERFULL. I allso liked the screems I could hear coming from my haunt, and the people going "I'm not going in!". Just makes the day so rewarding for me.

i like the kids that walk across the street to avoid my house, and the parents that wont go near it. we had the local cops stopping at our house which was very good to keep the older punk kids from ruining the haunt like so many other unfortunate haunts of people on here(very dissapointing) but the cops were loving the haunt, which i thought was awesome. also cars stopping in the middle of the street to take pictures was very rewarding on my part too.

For me it was the excitement of the parents!
I mean I'm thrilled to death when some little kid 8 yrs. old is having a conversation with me and I'm a stranger to them but we have a bond because of the way I decorate my house for Christmas and Halloween. They are chatting away telling me all about my house being so cool, and how they were watching me work outside putting my decorations up as the school bus drove by everyday and all the wonderful little coversations I have with the little ones. I love that the most.
Last year we had excited parents but nothing like this year. These people were wonderful as they all came into my home and enjoyed what we did here. It just moved me. The excitement generated by talking about this annual Halloween party thrilled me to death. I worried if I had it people would not come.... perhaps because they did not know us. Last night that problem was alleviated. They ate fresh popcorn in my house and brownies I baked !
I believe next year, with proper planning is gonna be a huge hit........but I gotta get that cemetery done!!! My Hubby laughs as I sit here reading as you all show your stuff you build.......I'm always saying>>>I want to be married to this guy!!! Was there ever a place to run a classified ad for a husband that is a fanatic for Halloween Decorations or I would settle for a good carpenter with an electrical background!

Our "competition." I don't know what's up with that, but somehow all the neighborhood kids see Halloween as a contest between us and a house the block over. They used to do a really gruesome haunt, and our style was different. We don't feel any competition at all - we do our own thing, and I wish EVERY house out there had a huge display. That would make me happy.
Anyways, a neighbor of ours had told them that we added new stuff this year, and they sent people over to check our haunt out. With cell phones. And notebooks and pens. I was THRILLED. They had been slacking off the past few years, and we are the only 2 haunts in the neighborhood. We're moving in the spring - I'm hoping they're gearing up for something big to take our place. I'm going to be sad for all the kids here, they come by telling us how they look forward to our house every year. I'll miss that.

I think the best part of this year's Halloween was watching the children and the adults sitting and standing on the sidewalk watching the show. How the children would yell up to their parents pointing at some prop, yelling, "Did you see that?"
It was a great year!!!

The two little one-year-old first-timers that came up, their eyes gleaming while holding out their bags and mumbling an incomprehensible "TOT". Something about that sweetness and innocence gets me every time!

Easy question - seeing the looks on the faces of kids, yound and old, as they won prizes in our "Raffle". You expect them to get excited over a DVD Player or a Portable CD Player. But seeing little guys get excited over a $5 bag of plastic dinosaurs, a teen-age Filipina girl ecstatic over winning a bag of 250 multi-colored hairbands...you can't put a price on that.
Our own little girl came through with a group of friends from school at about 8:45. I thought twice about letting her pick, it's HER Haunted House, too, after all. Would you believe she pulled out a card reading "DVD MOVIE"? We were down to about 8 left at the time; she selected "The Hobbit". I thought, "What's she doing, she already HAS that one." I found out later that she picked it out - to give to one of her friends. She's a great kid.Wolfman

We are open every night, almost all year long and Sunday afternoons and this is when we ask people to bring their fearful little ones and we work just to make them calm and happy and to put them through this house in good shape, this is very satisfying.
As far as the most fun, personally..there was a Saturday night during which I did 35 front room routines and not being satisfied to bore anyone, especially myself, I created different routines using the same props in that room, often I never knew what I was going to say until I said it but it usually turned out funny and they laughed!
I got definately giddy by the night's conclusion I had laughed so much!
Of course the definately funniest routine was when I am about to terrorize the whole room full of customers in the dark when I suddenlt admit that I just crapped MY PANTS!
If you need to make people laugh, subjegate your ego and make fun of yourself, it works every time!"My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"
