well with all the good and bad things that have happened to everyone, from what I can see mostly in the USA, haven't seen anything from up here in Canada. We had a really good night, lots of complaments and questions about doing a walkthrough again next year. This year we just did a display, we usually do a walkthrough.

What my nephews want to try is the pirate theme. I have seen a lot of really great looking pirate themes this year on the halloween forum, what I need help with is how do you do it as a walkthrough.

I was thinking if i build a ship on one side of my yard and have the TOTers walk through an "island" on the other side, but what to do, what to do.

    Halloweenking777,
I love it. Planning for Halloween 2007. How great is that! Thank you for doing this thread.

2007 Ideas....gee I been makin notes on those for sometime! This annual Halloween party is really not stressful for me to plan cause I did stuff like this all the time w/ our Diner....so it comes very natural and I'm full of a million ideas that I jotted down in ongoing tablets I always kept to keep the ideas flowing for yearly events.

Aside from that the direction I am headed for with my theme for next year is this whole cemetery-funeral idea. Next year we will add the living room to the whole theme by setting up a lifesize casket along with these wonderful ORANGE chairs I have that we had in the diner.

I have a wulitzer organ in the garage all it needs it some gory creepy pipes and some work to make it look very authentic. It has a built in cassette player that has wonderful sound that comes thru the leslie speakers in the organ and it has cathedral capabilities......so you could easly sit someone at it that can play the keys with the key sound off and the sound would actually come from a gothic organ soundtrack but you would look like you were playing it.

I have tons and tons of bolts of material from catering weddings in my past so we could easily create a funeral parlor. This years spell and potion room would turn into a parlor for "THE DEAD" attending the funeral, such as the victims friends awaiting his ressurection so it would be a group of props sitting and toasting his soon to arrive condition. Jeez I hope the hell I did not send those 2 pairs of new (I never used them) expensive RED drapes to the salvation army!

We would take people thru the entire thing, so outside would be a freshly dug grave in a completely finished cemetery along with Holly Berrys husbands Hearse which I think is great. I brought all my wagon wheels from in front of the diner when I moved here to N.C. so we would have real wagon wheels on our hearse. I have a bunch of horseshoes to set up and paint w/ glow in the dark paint...so they could be set in front of the hearse as to appear that there are ghost horses there.

Somewhere I bookmarked a site that has these 6 monks on it.....they blew me away how they looked so I bought their masks this year..all 6 of them.... and neighbor is a sewer so she said she will make the cloaks...they would be wild in the cemetery.

So yes the wheels have been in motion for sometime...I would have had this done but the problem this year was $$$$$ going into completeing my commercial kitchen to open for my business. That is where all the building went on this year and I got a 1st hand look at new hubbys building capabilities. woohoo

Now that we all committed to so many folks about next year....we realize that its very important to work on some of this each month so it will be completed for next Halloween>>>>>>don't worry I'll keep them focused!!!lol They are all napping right now!!hahahah

There's so much that I wanted to do over the last few years...

Next year, I want to expand the vintage/silhouette scene with a haunted house and more tombstones.

The big project will be a large, illuminated moon with a witch flying on her broomstick in front of it... we've been playing around with how to make something like that secure.

Won't be much of a Halloween next year since Daylight Savings Time will be extended to November 4th.

I am totally changing theme from a standard cemetary with witches goblins and ghouls to a "war of the worlds" alien invasion theme.

I hope to be able to build all new props - make everything very fresh.

5 years is enough for the same theme.

I'm tired of working my butt off for just 20-30 TOT's and don't have the guts to endure the stress of a walkthru, so for 2007, I'm talking to a local charity haunt about donating most of my props (hopefully this year to avoid storage!) and working for them next year!

For our annual Halloween party, I'm going to rent a local community center and have a "Bring your Creepiest Dessert" Party next year...no more trashing my house!
