Was very sad to read this. Hope it didn't happen at one of our mrmbers' haunts. But at the same time, it serves as a reminder to all to BE CAREFUL and STAY SAFE.
Man killed during haunted Halloween hay ride attraction
(10/29/06 - SOUTH COFFEYVILLE, OK) - A man staging a bungee-jumping stunt to scare passengers on a Halloween hay ride died after his head slammed into the side of a trailer, authorities said.
Frank Pfister, 56, was fatally injured Saturday while several hundred people were attending the Trail of Spooks Hay Rack Ride. He was among more than 100 volunteers working on the fundraising event.
"The cable that kept him suspended snapped," said Kassie Johnson, who was on the hay ride. "At first I thought it was just a dummy falling out of the tree. The trailer bumped up in the air when he hit. Then everyone started screaming."
Pfister was attached to the bungee cord by a body harness. He also hit a passenger's foot, but the passenger was not seriously hurt.
The Nowata County Undersheriff Doug Sonenberg said the death appeared to be accidental but that an investigation continued.
The event raises money for the community's volunteer fire department.

wow hugs to the family--
with total respect I will say-- I am sure he was LOVING what he was doing.
I worked a hayride for the first time this year and there were soo many really dark places.
a stunt like this one is pretty wild in itself
it's so dark alot of the time you really have to watch. We had one of our high school kids get his foot run over by the trailer. good thing it wasn't the tractor ...
again--sad to hear this.~~~~~~~~~~Don't torture yourself, GomezThat's my job~~

I commented on this last night... we went to a hayride and was shocked to see they had 3 bungee jumpers, even after the news of this guy dying over the weekend.
It seems pretty dangerous to me, even though they are really only jumping a few feet, they are jumping at a steel trailer.
There were many things that I bet make insurance agents cringe. Props coming way too close to people, actors climbing on and off a moving wagon, actual touching of guests, the bungees, walls that "collapse" toward the trailer, etc...
