I thought I posted this last night, but I guess I didn't hit submit...
Our party was last night, with mixed success. We had 24 people show up, an okay turnout considering it RAINED ALL DAY THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. Some 10 people that were confirmed didn't bother to tell us they weren't coming, several others did call and some that were iffy just didn't show up at all.
As per tradition, our neighbors that came had no costume but at least mingled and had a good time. Maybe it's the icebreaker for future events? One couple that has never worn costumes, period, showed up as Handy Smurf and Smurfette! Body paint and everything. I think people are finally getting into the groove.
I couldn't put out the last items until literally 30 minutes before the party, it rained up until 8pm. I didn't even get to put out a ton of stuff since I didn't know if had completely stopped raining. The wind and rain destroyed our pop up canopy, too.
We weren't even changed when people started arriving, and our food wasn't completed. I didn't have time to put on the makeup for my Herman Munster costume, so it was kinda incomplete. But, no one noticed. Fun was had by all in spite of mother nature's attempts to ruin it. The graveyard scene, monster in box, FCG, TV photo booth and peppers 'skeleton' were big hits. People couldn't believe it was homemade.
Weather looks good for Halloween night, when I'll be the Grim Reaper in the Cemetery
I put some pictures up if anyone wants to look. Good luck with your parties!

I know the feeling......we cancel ours after the wind distroy my lighted arch (bend it over and snaped some metal) entrance to my side yard maze......snap one of my scarecrows in half......I was bumm....it was suppose to be our dry-run full dress rehearsal party.....a few still came...and I gave them a mini sneak preview for Oct.31.....but I cancel it for our actors....and promise we would be up and running infull force in a few days.......oh well......guess I did all this work for only a couple of hrs. tuesday night......hardly seems worth it........sorry I'm a little bent right now.......anyhow I am glad I put a bit more into the garage scene.....in case of more weird weather.....some think it may be too scary......I hope not.....its just real creepy......with a cobweb tunnel maze and lighted faces in the web.....oh well I'm proud of my work anyhow........good luck to the rest of ya'll.

Sorry about your weather. I have to admit last night as our trail was starting and the high winds that were predicted didn't happen, that I knew from watching the weather non stop somewhere some fellow haunters were having bad weather. Here in Minnesota we lucked out. NO wind, no rain, and the tempurature was just fine. Glad you still had fun and the guest's were not any the wiser.
Your monster in the box turned out great, and explain to me the photo tv thing?

Had our party last night as well. It turned out to be almost 90 on Saturday and the night was awesome!! We had 60 people and many partied outside most of the night. We had an open house tonight (Sunday) for family and freinds not invited to the party, tonight it is cold!! We lucked out. I host all of my props in the house and garage, no worries about wind, weather etc. Family and freinds get the full viewing inside and out and trick or treaters get the garage.
This year is a full cemetary scene with stone walls, fake grass, blue plastic ceiling, lightning, the Sam's Club Witch and all of my home made props (nine foot tree, werewolf, grim reaper, owl, cemetary entrance sign, gravestones and monuments, and fountain.
I love Halloween and the annual party. Really sad though when all is over for the year.
