Thank God for AMC (American Movie Classics). Every October the crummy but expensive cable service I pay for chooses either to ignore Halloween and horror movies or put a handful of on at the last minute, and always the same lame ones. I guess Time Warner, HBO, Showtime, etc didn't get the memo about Halloween being the #2 celebrated holiday in America second only to Christmas. It seems that the pay stations, not the basic cable lineups do the least work putting on seasonally relevant programming, ie: the good stuff. Even though AMC is basic cable and has commercials and edits content for sex, vulgarity, etc; at least they are putting on the damn shows! These movies should be on the movie channels, especially in October, the only time some of us horror movie fans get to see horror movies.
I heard something about a Horror Channel either being proposed or already on some cable system, I guess kind of like the Scifi Channel on most cable systems. That is something that is definitely needed and wanted by fans unserved by Hollywood nitwits that would rather put on boring and stupid schlock and make cheap "reality TV" garbage instead of interesting programming. So for my horror fix, I have to rely on AMC's banquet of goodies, 'cause I ain't paying twice to rent a movie that should already be on my cable movie lineup.

I don't count on cable any more. I went out and bought all the classics - Frankenstein, Dracula, Werewolf, and the Mummy DVDs. I watch them as I work on props. It really sets the mood.

I hear you and was just thinking about how wonderful I realized AMC was last night, lol...I watched part of the Hellraiser series last night, part of the Halloween series night before last. Howling VII (I believe) is now showing and it's just after 9AM here...they're playing part of the Exorcist series Saturday evening...
I'm not seeing the same level of Halloween respect from other channels either. I'm usually a Sci-Fi channel addict but even there I am not seeing it as much. But then again, I have hundreds of movies on DVD and can find something horrific to watch, but it's the principle which bothers me...I'm going to have to rent or try to find two particular Halloween shows for the kids (and myself if I'm honest) since I'm sure none of the channels will be playing them...Charlie Brown's Halloween and Garfield's Halloween. The kids and I love it everytime Charlie Brown says "I got a rock" lol.

Ahh... even better is Turner Classic Movies; all the great ones, commercial free!
I've got a ton of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff classics recorded and several more are scheduled this week. Love it!Dear Sweet Leota, Beloved By All. In Regions Beyond Now But Having a Ball...

Wow, is it the whole thing?! If that stays on there I'll be surprised (copyright et al infringement).
Love just happening to catch Holiday shows and scary movies when they're on - there's something about the surprise involved...Haunt to Live ... Live to Haunt
