Went up tonight to find a bird in the attic. Poor guy has to have been up there for a few days at least. I have left the stairs down and the garage door open tonight...
Any tips on how to lure or coax him out? I don't like the idea of a poor little bird starving to death in my attic.

Can you systematically partition off parts of your attic with sheets or plastic?
Perhaps start at one end (make certain the bird is in that end), and section it off (obviously, try not to leave gaps) and build up towards the entrance/exit.
Then, move to the opposite end, and do the same - eventually, there will be so little room that the bird will either leave, or you'll catch it.
Another choice is netting - any fishing supply stores nearby?Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...
2009 photos and 2008 photos ...uhmmm...and what I have evolving...

Birds will sometimes fly towards light. Make sure attic is dark and put a light at the exit. Sometimes worked for me when birds got trapped in the hallway in an apartment building I use to live in.

Cannot even access most of the attic, it is just dead space. We have a pretty big, weird shaped house. The attic is hard to navigate and spacious. I floored the area above the garage, and thats it.
I have the lights off in the attic, and on in the garage. I was hoping he'd see that's the way out.

I once had a bird in my chimney and couldn't figure how to get it out. All the fuss I caused trying to get it out must have really scared it.
I left the opening to the fireplace open and left a nightlight on when I went to bed. In the middle of the night I awoke to the sound of a bird flying around in my house.
I think when everything is quiet and dark the bird might try to venture out of the attick.
