8 days to go, and I know all of you are probably getting those bats fluttering around in your stomach, like me just thinking about it!

Here's my problem-du-jour.... I've got a large flagpole in the front yard that I can't for the life of me decide what to do with. It sits right in front of a huge pine tree (which is a massive waste of space, as it blocks the view from the street of some of my best pieces, and believe me, if I had my way it'd be chopped down for that reason alone!). So far, I'm thinking of using it to strap up my Bucky scarecrow to, but it just seems like a waste pf good vertical space. Of course, it's got a better flag on right now- the Maple Leaf has nothing on my pirate republic!

I'm sure someone's been in the same situation... Any ideas?

Never been in the same situation but....

I can just imagine a pirate skellie trying to scale that pole....that would be great!

Following the pirate theme, use it as a mast. String two lengths of net-like rigging to it, maybe a crow's nest... Have a skeletal lookout with a spy glass up top.

I am thinking in terms of pirates too. When I started to read your message, the first thought in my head was to suggest two or three skeles climbing the pole. If you do it right, they might even be fighting each other on their way up. Although that depends on how high you can reach up the pole to position them. I like the idea of a mast.

I have a house mounted pole and added a skele this year (http://s107.photobucket.com/albums/m...nch=imgAnch54). On a big pole you could do some great things! Happy Haunting.

That's a great idea! Thanks to all you guys for the inspiration! Maybe for next year I'll do the whole PotC theme as well, to coincide with the 3rd movie.

You can attach the skellies to the flag cord and hoist them as high as you like.

You could do something creatively gruesome ala Calvin:

Note the snowman impaled by the tree...

Ahh Calvin & Hobbes, the funniest comic ever...

The really sad thing is that it actually has been SNOWING up here in SW Ontario for the last several days (which hasn't happened in decades). If this keeps up, by All Hallows I actually may do the snowmen idea instead of the skellies!
