I see that the combined fund raising efforts of the Republican and Democratic Parties will result in a total expenditure of One Billion Dollars for this year's Election Campaigns. Meanwhile Americans are expected to shell out 4.95 B for Hallowe'en! There still hope for Western Civilization!

I think we should all claim that we need Halloween for religious purposes. If they push on which religion, we could always say "capitalism"! Especially with the 4.95 bill.
I usually take it off, but this year I'm working a half day so that I can go to the Halloween lunch!

I saw that 5 billion dollar figure in my paper too and I sure don't see how that can happen with the way things look in my town. We only have two stores here that sell halloween related items and every week I check out the shelves and can tell you exactly what has been sold because NOTHING is moving! These stores already cut way back on things and I'm afraid next year there will be nothing out

Online Shopping. That's where alot of the money is being spent. There are things that you just cant find in the stores.
Plus I spent quite a bit at Lowes and Home Depot since I made some of my decorations.
Also the fabric stores around here have quite a bit of stuff too. (And they start discounting before Halloween is over)
