Almost everyday I push the stroller up and down my neighborhood streets-it takes a couple hours. Lately I have been scoping out any Halloween decorations and displays, and not surprinsingly have seen the minimum. I know exactly where to look for the 3 or 4 houses that put out more than just pumpkins. And they are great fun, very child friendly, but spirited nonetheless.
Today, I went down farther to a block I don't usually walk. What's cool is that in a mostly wealthy home owner lakesided town, this particular block has the oldest homes, including 2 boarded up and very spooky houses. I was wishing I brought my camera. AND-this block had the best display! One house went 'all out' for this tame area.
Hope other people are seeing their neighbors get into it too!

i discovered a nieghbor last year WAY in the back of my neighborhood. he was doing his fisrt yard haunt with a mini haunted house set up with blue tarp. was a little slapped together but a ton of effort. i introduced myself and told him about this site. don't know if he ever checked it out. but it's nice to know i'm not alone in the neighborhood. thanks to your post i think i'll go drive around the hood today to see what's up this year =)
