So, I'm planning on doing some fun electrical things in a non-profit HH. U know the stuff....Jacob's ladders and things...

One thing i was thinking of doing was this

Essencially a coil of wire springy enough to bounce back and forth pff a steel plate do to elecrical charges.

My question is how safe is this? I don't know if constantly shorting the connection (tho only temporarily) would possibly overheat the battery to the point of exploding. Normally it would take an unfused short to do that, and this would have the fuse built in.....but i'm still curious about the risk.

Ideas?
