So all this halloween talk and driving by houses with pumpkins and scarecrows have got my desire for a haunted house up even more. Im 25, I figure I got till 30 to take a stab at it. I am subscribed to hauntworld and went to transworld for the first time last year and will be going again from now on. Im saving all the flyers, magazines, links etc. I work 9-5 so helping out at a haunt or working a hunt is hard during the season. My goal is to have my own haunt by 2009, any tips on what I should do to further get some more knowledge?

Most likely ill be taking out a loan and maybe renting some property in 2009 unless I hit the lotto which is unlikely. I have visited some haunted houses in Chicago and I do like how dream reapers is setup. Any idea how much a show like that cost to run?

You already have taken your first steps towards your goal.
I would goto as many haunt seminars/ conventions that you could. You will meet a lot of contacts in the haunt industry. As you know well at Transworld.
Horrorfind Weekends is in August in Baltimore, Maryland. Have been there two years in a row & I've a lifer! HFW is a 3 day event with everything you can thing of horror/haunt related. Board members of HF forums have built a haunted house in 8 hrs for two years in a row. I'm a haunter & have been doing it non-profit for over 6 years now. Maze of Terror is labor of love that I look forward to every year!
Haunted Attraction magazine is another one you should subscribe to. They cover haunts from coast to coast. Encourage readers from any skill level, yard haunter to pro haunter to write in their own articles. Leonard & Jean Pickle are editors of the magazine and are good friends. Start with a yard haunt & work your way up. The experience you'll gain is priceless.
