Well,I have not been invited yet but I hear there will be a small contest in my hood.Only problem is the main challenge has copied all my stuff.I put up my static props and static fcg, they do the same.I put my skull creature on the roof now they have a similar guy.I built toe pinchers, they bought some too. While I make most of my stuff and have a functional FCG,I am kinda bummed that they are trying to make a copy of my yard.None of thier stuff moves so I am 1 up on that and no one knows about my stalkabout that will be out only on the big day.I even tried to help them when they put out a hangman I tried to show them how to add some motion. At least 4 houses have copied my static FCG ghost in the front window.Oh well back to the drawing board, maybe take down some stuff and revamp it.It does make me happy to see a bunch of houses copied my pvc monsters in chairs on the front porch at least more people are trying something other than inflateables.

imitation is the highest form of flattery. you are also spreading the halloween dread (see: spirit).

My suggestion? Find out when they will be judging, and then save one or two more props for that day (don't put them out yet, wait). It's kinda hard for someone to copy something on short notice.

Wow! I'd just be thrilled that 4 other houses in my neighborhood were even decorating!

That's the sincerest form of Flattery, Skullboy, Imitation.
When I was 15 I built a "Santa Clause and Reindeer" Cut-out that I copied from an old Postcard. Santa was up on the edge of the roof, reaching down to get his sack that two reindeer were hoisting up to him. My mom said one day that she saw a guy parked in a car across the street and he looked like he wa sketching it. A week later we saw THE EXACT SAME SCENE in a guy's yard about three miles away. Mine was better. Consider yourself flattered, and YOU should win based on originality.Wolfman

We all use ideas that others came up with ,what bugs me is they are on the next street and her kids keep telling mine about how I am losing this year.Yes you all are right that I should take it as a compliment ,it is just irritating when you see this day after day on the way to school.I will figure out something else to suprise them with closer to Halloween.

I think you should build props that will come to life and eat all the neighbor's props! How can they compete with that?!

Ok - my 1/2 cent....everyone says the copying is the highest form of flattery....
So...think about it. If your neighbors thought your stuff was crap...they could a: come up with their own creative stuff....
b: not do anything halloween related....
c: start a commotion with the other non-celebrating neighbors to make you miserable...
Obviously both they and the kids really dig your stuff. You should be proud! I would hide the best stuff for as long as possible
And like Madame Leota said....having all those people decorating in a neighborhood??????
PRICELESS
