I thought I posted this already but I can't seem to find it again so I'll try again.

I need to make a mask similiar to this one:

Any ideas or suggestions on how to do that?

    Thanks,
    MsM

If it's for a prop, I would say use an oval piece of plastic or a plate bent for the face shield. Use a coffe can painted to look like the large filter canister, and maybe two smaller cans for the small canisters. Use duct tape to fasten it all together, and then paint.

Sorry, should have been more specific. Pieter is dressing up as a dirty filthy disgusting trash can and I thought it would be funny to dress myself up as a bio hazard waste collector....like in the photo. So, its for me and not a prop. I have the white suit and rubber gloves....I just need to improvise something for the mask.

    Thanks for your response,

The top part reminds me of one of those large diving masks, maybe you could spray paint one of those black and attach an empty duct tape roll and then dress it up?

    Or maybe this?

Oh my goodness....who would have ever thought that you could find directions for making your own gas mask from computer parts on the internet lol

You have a point about it looking like a diving mask, I'll take a look in the second hand store today and see what they have.

october31man: thanks for the tip but we don't have home depot here.

you probably don't want to paint it black if you're going to be wearing it. maybe try dark window tinting? do you have any army surplus stores nearby? it seems that there are always gas masks there.

    good luck!

American Science & Surplus are selling them online for $12.95. They have any size from infant to Adult XL.
    That's a scary thought!

Actually I meant to paint it black around the viewing area, not wander around in the dark.

Army surplus is a great idea, I think I mentioned something like that on the original thread, but if I remember correctly MsM is out of the country?

I love As&s, they are the funniest surplus catalog ever!
