I'm assuming that most of us operate some sort of attraction come the 31st. Do you yourself get dressed up, and, if you do, as what?

I need to usher the TOT's through the deal, so I don't want to scare the pants off 'em. My costume? The Ghost of Elvis. Looks great under Black Light, all the sequins an' stuff, y'know...Thank ya verra much!

What are you guys gonna be?

I'm not into cotumes myself. Usually just wear a seasonal t-shirt and black pants when I hand out treats. Maybe some GID nail polish. Wore a mask a few times, but it scares the little TOTs and the older ones could care less if I'm costumed - they're into the yard/porch decorations and the candy. If I could talk my partner into handing out treats while I roam the set, THEN it would be worth the effort to come up with something that would scare the crap out of those 10-yr-olds.

They buy their ticket, the ornamental skull blended into the rotted railing beside the little stoop says, "Get away from the door!" the front door opens, cranking down s l o w l y.. as the beeper beeps, sort of like those truck-backing-up sound makers..(it's a drawbridge, kind of unheard of on an 1870 Italianate house)
I jump out on the drawbridge wearing either a camoflauged cape or blue-grey old suitcoat with a plastic WW2 German helmet on my head with a homemade German ww2 Mp-40 machine gun in my hands.
Sometimes as the night goes on I might substitute an aluminum mace, then I say:"Axe me no questions, it's only "plastic", as I clank it's obviously metal blade against the steel edge on the front of the drawbridge, so as to impress everyone that I'm lying.
The rest of the time I'm dressed either in jeans and a flannel shirt or just in black clothes, no make up, I'm 57 years old, I don't need anything additional on my face to look real scary to the young kids!
Lately I have been told how "scary" this house is and how "Scary" I am as I am doing my presentations, which I find funny since I'm just acting almost naturally......but I am acting. maybe?
Of course some young people have never heard of "acting", they look for explanations in the answers of drug-abuse, senility or mental illness.!!

I guess this year I'll be most like a ninja, all black and stealthy. Not because that's my costume, but I'll be hiding in the bushes while triggering my props manually.

I always wear a long black robe with a different scary mask, I like to scare the little ones so I put up a large sign to "BE AWARE OF MONSTERS" so when they come up to my door I come up though floor( really side of porch) while my wife hands candy out I can do my thing .
But since 2005 I have not been wearing a mask as I had a tumor removed from my head and it left me dizzy so I just put on some makeup now.
Yes I still get a lot of kids running away .

I'm going to be part scarecrow, part farmer. I'll be walking around with a pitchfork with a head on it and a sack of decapitated heads calling myself "The Head Farmer" there will also be 4 bloody holes in my face from where I fell asleep on the pitchfork.
