Ok, it seems like there's been an absurd amount of people here asking how you post pictures. I talked to Larry, and he seemed to like the idea of having a few Tutorials. So now rather than just complain, or say the same thing over and over and over; we can say "Just Search For It". (Don't make me write a tutorial on "Searching" or I'll come over there...)

The scope and detail of the following tutorial is specifically on posting images hosted at a remote location using ubb code.
    -
I'm going to begin this *AFTER* you've taken the pics you wish to post (possibibly with a camera, scanner, pencil, pen, stone tablet and chisel...but really figuring out how to take it is your problem.) and *AFTER* you've transferred them onto the harddrive in a location you can find again on a computer with internet connection (Again, that's your problem and I'm not touching it). Infact, I don't think I'm really even going to say anything about HOW you host an image somewhere, just know that you *MUST* have the image hosted, and your host *MUST* allow "remote linking".

First step, after taking pic, and making it accessable to computer: Make absolutely sure that it is *LESS THAN* 400x600 pixels. Otherwise it's really just too big, loads painfully slow for the users still on dial-up, and screws up the formatting of the message board. (If you need more help on Sizing Pics, let me know.) Also, leave out the 'weird' format pictures, for message boards, stick with *.jpg and *.gif a lot of times the others just do not work the message board, in any browser. (Yeah, yeah, if you need help converting them...)

Next: Upload image file to your host. Look around, there are hundreds of places online which offer free image hosting. Personally, I like: Photobucket, Halloween Gallery, or any free hosting space your ISP has already given you but you aren't taking advantage of yet. Make sure they allow "remote linking" and give you a reasonable amount of bandwidth; otherwise pics won't show up at all, or they'll max out bandwidth and appear as broken links. But again, I don't care where you host, so figure that out on your own; this is aimed at how to POST them, not uploading to host sites.

Alright, now you've finally got your images uploaded to whatever host you like, the fun can begin. Start making a post here like normal. Then, where ever you wish to have the image appear in post, you plug in the "image tags" and the URL that your pic is hosted on.

This is the start image tag. [img]

And this is the end image tag. [/img]

Notice the only difference is the / in the end tag.

Here is a made up example showing how it should look.

    [img]http://www._______.com/halloween_stuff.jpg[/img]

    ----

So to give an example, let's say I have a picture hosted at this url:

    http:// img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/frizzen/Holliday/Skullhead.jpg

Putting in the image tags, it looks like this:

    [IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/frizzen/Holliday/Skullhead.jpg[/IMG]

And here's what you see when the previous line is posted:

    So, let's recap:
    • UBB code is not case sensitive, so it doesn't matter if you make the stuff between [ and ] is upper or lower case.
    • This was boring and unhelpful.
    • Frizzen sucks at tutorials!
    • Don't put a space between tags and url.
    • There's a lot more UBB Code out there than this.

Now, go out there and post some pics!!!

Sam I was gonna try and put your image in here, but that didn't seem to want to open when I checked to see what the image was.

All you have to do is type [img] then put the url http://www.url.com (you need the http://www) then put [/img]

So it should look like this (without the quotes) "[img]"http://www.imageurl.com"[/img]"

If anything don't do a quick post. Click Post reply and make sure you have Advanced settings on. You can click an icon that looks like mountains, hover over the icons and you'll see one that says Insert Image. Click that and all you have to do is type in the url.

grave, that's not a link to an image. I found a tiny image you have in your Halloween gallery looks like this

You need to put the link like this http://www.halloweengallery.com/albu...62148915_l.jpg between the [img] [/img]

To get this image link just right click the image and click proberties when the image is viewed.

You're putting the link to the page like this http://www.halloweengallery.com/disp...by&cat=0&pos=0 which is not an image.

    Hope this helps. Keep trying.

If you click "go advance" at the bottom of the box there are icon for inserting images and link. If you click them and put your url in the pop-up box it does automatically posts your pic , if the url is correct (no typing, just cut and paste) Just like MrsMyers666 said
