Dave in the Grave - you're right! It really HAS been a long time - no idea where I pulled that top hat from - just a weird mental image - would have been a cool look on him though LOL!

Where I grew up (w.c. IL), the spook station was out of the Quad Cities (Moline/E. Moline), and was called "Chuck Acri's Creature Feature", hosted by Dr. Igor, a kinda hunchback guy), who was accompainied by a cheesy Frankenstein's monster. Saw all the classics there for the first time. I had to pay for an additional antennae stack for our T.V. from my paper route money (man, that REALLY dates me!) to pick up that channel, which came on on Sat. nights after the news. That brings back memories!

I grew up in Northeastern PA and my horror host was Uncle Ted out of Scranton.

I also got Stella on the Saturday Night Dead show out of Philly.

Horror hosts are one of my passions and something I would definitely love to do! I'm a complete horror geek, and I love dressing up at Halloween -

If anyone else is interested in this unique little corner of history, there are a lot of cool and informative websites out there. Additionally, there is a whole new generation of hosts who are carrying on the tradition - The Horror Host Underground - so if you are able, give them support!
