That is so mean! Its probably a group of bored teens who did it for a laugh. Arrrggg. That's why I don't put my props out early.
Creepy, let us know if those jerks get caught!!

I'll betcha they were stolen by a teacher or faculty member wantin' a little face time on the local news - I'm gettin' cynical in my old age [}

UPDATE - They mentioned it for a short time on the noon news today, they said they still don't have any leads as to who stole them.
Thats probably the last we will hear about it.

The school that has the "Fall" Scarecrow display is Inverness Elementary in north Shelby County (Alabama). I had hoped to find somethiong on their website - but no luck.
The extent of this display was impressive to say the least. I haven't tried to count the scarecrows, but the display stretches for probably 200 feet along busy Valleydale Road. Many had very good quality and detail. A few were stolen, but please know that they "did their duty" and paid the price for a worthwhile cause. The scarecrows were all sponsored by business or individuals who contributed money to the school.
There isn't a good place to stop and photograph this scene, but I posted a few pictures of what I could get while driving. Not much detail, but you can see the display's size - www.cncinc.com/scarecrows.htm .
I see the early works of some great future Halloween prop builders. The kids, parents and teachers put some major effort into this.

hurricanecritter2002 - Thanks for posting the pics! I was so shocked by what happened I didn't know that local businesses had donated money to the school also. Grrr. Just makes me even more angry though at what happened. Maybe they can make some more. But anyway, that shouldn't let them get thier spirits down. Then the stupid bungholes that did that would win.
NEVER let anyone get your spirits down about anything. Just keep trying.
