Default Garden Ridge!

All,

I hit Garden Ridge last weekend and picked up a couple of new items for the Halloween extravaganza this year.

They had these neat metal signs that you could either hang on your door or wall, or stake into the ground. They were old-ish looking, with a nice detail of an attractive finial on the item. I picked a "welcome" sign that stakes into the ground. Nice thing about it is that the sign is free-swinging, so hopefully it will add a creepy squeaky touch to the ol' front graveyard, I mean, yard, this Halloween!

I also picked up a 36" around purple lighted spider web. Thought it was kinda' cool.

As far as other stuff they had, they had a bunch of those giant inflatable things (mummies, frankensteins, draculas, etc.), which I am not too keen on, personally. Hubby (God love his incorrupt little soul) keeps asking if we should get one of those ... he obviously has yet to come to the dark side (I'm working on it!). They also carried a lot of cutesy stuff -- big on the talking/moving/lighted tombstones this year. I am surprised they don't make their own version of the lighted "No Vacancy" tombstone, yet. (The one I made was a big hit last year!)

Anyway, thought I would let you all know that GR is carrying its Fall stuff now. Hmm, wonder if Big Lots has anything out yet?!

thanks for the info, I have a garden ridge in my city, so I will go check them out. Thank goodness they are coming out with stuff this early to keep our haunted little souls satisfied and busy with the planning of this years festivities! I used to walk in stores before I was into this and say god why do they have this stuff out so early??!! Now I know why, they still make money off of people like us!

I was at Big Lots last week. I didn't see any Halloween stuff but their garden stuff was on sale. Might be good for statues, etc.

I was at my Big Lots yesterday. Nothing Halloween yet and the garden sale stuff was pretty much gone. I was disappointed. I have yet to check JoAnn Fabrics.

Any early sitings reported here will get a huge THANKS from me!

Also, anyone seen anything brand new come out on any web sites yet? I always like to see the latest and greatest.

I am glad to see I am providing info that helps us all get our FIX!!!

I saw another post in the props section (in response to my "Need a big cauldron!!" post) where someone said that Joann's is just starting to put out their fall/Halloween stuff. I think someone is going shopping this weekend, baby! I also have Michael's around here, so I think I am just going to have to make the rounds!! Woohoo!

As far as new stuff this year, I did see one thing on eBay that I liked that I hadn't really seen before, that was a neat idea:

It's rather expensive, but I bet something similar could be made relatively easily. You wouldn't even have to get expensive wood -- you could just use an old pallet to build this little number. After that, all you would need is some kind of motor to push the hand in and out/raise the cellar doors, and you would be set.

Anyway, gotta' get back to work.

Oh, I am sad! The Garden Ridge here in Nashville closed this year! That was my favorite store to get decor from! Now the closest one to me is 4 hours away in Memphis! Boo-hoo! Our Big Lots, Michaels and Walmart has some fall and Halloween stuff out now. Man I'm gonna miss Garden Ridge this fall. Me and the hubby just might have to take a 4 road trip to shop!

Was that the boogie man?
As a matter of fact, it was.

Don't have any garden ridges over here on the west coast... Rats! Big lots did have all their statuary on sale though, picked up a pair of nice crosses, and one was even cracked already! hehe, they had it on clearance, and then took half off of that, so I got a 18" heavy plastic cross for 2 bucks.
