Awesome looking Chaney Sprfly, those hands make a big difference, it looks better than the original. I have a couple of questions, what are the eyes of the display masks made out of? Is that lantern you bought off of E-Bay really old, or did you do something to make it look that way? Oh, one more question, what is that column in the background behind Mr. Chaney? That looks pretty slick too.

    Pug,
The lantern is the same way I got it off of Ebay...didn't do anything to age/distress it. I'm really not all that sure what the eyes are made of on the Chaney mask. They have a glossy coating on them to make him appear almost life-like, but to be honest with you, I have no idea...all I do know is that when I have to go in the garage at night and I forget about Chaney standing there (before I turn on the lights) those eyes are always looking at me. I love it!!! As for the pillars: I made them from somewhat altered instructions I got off of http://ravenmanor.com/projects/cemeterygate&fence.html. I didn't use 1/2" plywood for the exterior. I used 3/4" foam board. Although it's a little less forgiving, I like distressing it with cracks and such, and I think this would be too much a pain in the @$$ with plywood. I used plaster of paris with skull molds I got from this candle supply store on the Internet and used 5/8" dowels inserted in the molds for sheer weight before adhering them to the pillars. Lights on top purchased from Home Depot for around $15/each...and then of course I painted the entire pillars in flat exterior black with several different colors of spray paint soon after. Lastly, 2 or 3 even coats of polyurethane to protect them. This was a little time consuming, but I think the effect it will have on the TOTs will be worth the trouble and expense. I've added a pic of just the pillars so you can see them better.
