I wouldn't mind it to be voluntary at all, the experience would be enough for me. The charity haunt is a route that i'm going to start looking at, to be honest. I do like the idea of being a cue line character, particularly if it had to be a bigger attraction (i.e. Scream Factory, my most likely most local one). I would certainly love it to be a character of my choosing/description, even if it had to be altered for doable purposes as it would be great for my creative side. I couldn't involve my family - they'd think I was mad! Also some of them work so the hours might be an issue. Thanks for the encouraging advice - I will most certainly try.

In "Season" we have Tour guides who lead people in groups through the house. Each group has a Leader and a Follower.
There are also some workers here who have a "Station" where they wait for the tour to pass by , although often the "Follower" could also be in those locations.
The dialog of the tour is flexible and can be changed by the employee leading the tour. For some reason ("Rebellion"? ) many times they simply walk through the house making fun of ME! (Which I have no trouble with.)

That sounds OK. To be honest with you, I'm struggling to do much more here regarding my ambition. I've checked if it will be OK with the hospital and it will be fine. But my location is an issue as I need to realistically travel to get anywhere where there might be a haunt for charity or profit. The local paper is only pointing out haunted locations, ghost walks and sleepovers at the haunted locations. However, there are a few:

Scream Factory: a little while away, would require travel to the unknown and appears to be a 'big' haunt. Also could be expensive to audition, do the scare sessions and then do the nights due to accommodation need. Also auditioning and the event take place in two separate locations.
Beamish: reachable by train but does then require taxi to the location. Again, auditioning (if possible) would be a difficulty.
Dark Garden at Alnwick Garden: a bus ride away but would need to audition then do a night or two.
Brockbushes: never been to location but is easily reachable and a short taxi ride away to location.
Linkskill Centre: Looks OK for getting there but never been to where it's located before.

Do you lot know how local charity haunts will advertise for volunteers nearer the time?

Over these last 30 years we have had phone calls and E-Mails from people who would want to work here in October. Some assume they would be living with us because this old house is huge, but only the part we live in is livable and the rest is "Haunted House".
We have had couples work here, but unfortunately we are interested in them "working" here not the drama of "He-Said-She Said" while everyone else is actually paying attention to the task at hand and making this house operate more smoothly......
A few years ago we suffered with the Worst employee that we have EVER HAD! They did nothing we needed them to do, disappeared inside the house for hours doing everything we told them NOT TO DO!? The really sad thing was they seemed to hold much promise as far as pre-experience in Haunting.
You never really "Know" until afterwards, and then you wish that you didn't know.
I'm just putting this "Out There' for Haunters who have maybe never had to have actual, working employees before or are considering hiring for the first time.

Just to let you lot know. Scream Factory have replied and said that i'm more than welcome to attend their casting auditions in August. I might take them up on this offer as it might be a good start on getting an idea on how to get into the business and they might be able to offer advice on how to get into local charity or volunteer haunts too if i'm not suitable for them.
