Hi, I purchased a Gemmy Light Show box with 6 channels, but it didn't come with any instructions. Does anyone know how to tell which outlet is the center/left/right channel? An instruction scan would be great, I couldn't find one anywhere. This way anyone who needs the instructions can have a way to see them.
Also, is it supposed to come with a long audio cable for the mp3 player? Mine didn't include that either. I have a long audio cable, but I'm not sure if I could use it outdoors.
There are a number of threads on the Gemmy Light Show with Timer here on the forum under varying names for it like Gemmy holiday light show etc. Also videos of it in use and different tutorials on set up on YouTube. Unfortunately the info is kind of spread out among the threads.
I have a 6-channel and believe it came with a two-sided brochure, but very skimply on any real details, basically points out the different parts from what I recall. I'll look for it this weekend. I'm not sure what cabling it came with off hand, but will let you know what's in my box. I believe it comes with a speaker cable and a short cable for connecting to the mp3 player at the very least. I wanted to use mine by keeping my iPod in my closed garage, with the iPod tethered to the unit and speaker on the other side of my garage door so believe I bought a long cable from Radio Shack for that purpose. I figured I could run my iPod off the AC outlet that way and not worry about the battery or possibilty of theft of the iPod. Other people have connected it to an FM transmitter so people driving by in their cars can tune in to it and others have used it hooked up to a stereo system instead of the mp3. None of this BTW is touched on in the Gemmy directions, just from posts from users.
I found this website by AAChristmas today for you that does a nice job of explaining how the system gets hooked up and demos it with 6 light strands and some music he wrote stored on his iPod. http://www.aachristmas.com/vpasp/shopexd.asp?id=3624
As for how the outlets are arranged, facing the main control box the outlets are sequentially numbered like an upside down U. #1 is at the bottom left of the unit and #6 is at the bottom right of the unit.

Reason: Sequencing of outlets
