Thought I'd pass this link on - Udacity.com is a new site that has classes beginning later this month. The one that I thought might interest some on here is CS373 - PROGRAMMING A ROBOTIC CAR. It's taught by Sebastian Thrun, who is behind much of the research at Google for the driverless car.
Anyway - the tie in to HF is that we might be able to tie some of these programming concepts into different props to bring artificial intelligence to them - Tracking other objects with Kalman filters, Finding objects in sensor data...
Anyone interested?

I would prefer not to turn my Halloween display into an actual bad sci-fi/horror movie

Seriously though, this would be pretty neat to see a prop that does more than lurch or scream at you, but it would be hard to make it easy or affordable. I'd love to have something like Boney Bennett but I can't stand programming.
