So, I had a very bad dream last night and I was curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.
My dream was that it was Halloween night and I was still waiting for the bags that I intend to hand out with goodies to the TOTs. I was waiting for my Bio-Hazard signs and my Toxic waste barrels were incomplete or missing. Infact most of my props were missing and I only had a few store bought tombstones and not much else. It was, as I have told my wife, TERRIBLE. (Though I haven't told her about the dream itself because she already says I'm obsessive) So I guess the question is three part. 1 have any of you had a similar dream. 2 Does this mean that I should work harder to create more props and 3 Or am I just obsessive like my wife believes and should probably seek help.

I have just read this post to my wife and need to edit before posting. She says Bingo for number three with a resounding "considering it's February 1st." I haven't got the heart to tell her its the second.
Why are you afraid of zombies anyway? They only eat brains, so you're safe

    '11 Pumpkin Headed Sentinel Build

At weddings, my Aunts would poke me in the ribs and cackle "You're next!". They stopped when I started doing the same to them at funerals.

1-Every Haunter have similar dreams. (I did, multiple times)
2-Not really, but if you fell you need too, do work harder to create more props (L). I never heard of a Haunter saying "This year, I'll do less, and cheaper and smaller props". (L). We always try to-over acheive last year's haunt.
3 of course, We are obsessive like our wife/husband believes and we should somehow probably seek help, and sadly, the only help we can get is by BUYING AND CREATING MORE! (L) it's a happy sickness.

At least you are in good company. I think we all probably qualify for number three....and I am busy working on number 2 as we speak!

    1. Yes, I've had those dreams many times, once this week, in fact. There's a thread about it somewhere around here.

    2. Working harder for the sake of props can't be wrong, unless it involves grave robbing.

    3. A dream isn't an indication of a sanity-shortage. Love of Halloween is a sign of passion for one of the greatest things in life. Love doesn't care what day of the year it is. Nobody questions if their friend or family member needs a shrink because he bought gifts for that other holiday months in advance.
There's something wrong with me chemically, something wrong with me inherently.

Ha ha, I have The Halloween Dream like a bajillion times a year. I have come to realize that for me it represents fear of disappointing others, because my kids are always a part of the dream missing out on stuff because of Mom. It doesn't really take an ace psychiatrist to figure that one out.

Your dream represents fear of disappointment or missing out on something. Your brain uses Halloween in your dream because Halloween means a lot to you.

i've never had that dream. i think your dream signifies your want to outdo last years haunt. you didn't have a lot of props because you know you can do better. as for the missing props, are you ever worried someone is going to take your props? and the not having candy signifies you feel you are never ready with everything you want to accomplish

Yep, have that dream occasionally as well. Funny, Halloween dreams replaced similar dreams back when I was working in the restaurant business being hopelessly 'in the weeds'. For you non-restaurant types this is what the weeds look like (minus Chef Ramsey) heh: SKIP to 45 seconds into the video...

I've had the dream, and I actually experienced it once.

When I was 19, I had a lot of things going on in my life, and essentially ignored Halloween. I had no props built and nothing remotely prepared. Halloween day, I got off work early, and arrived home about 3:30 pm.

I remember walking through the front gate, seeing the bare front yerd, and getting a sudden panic attack; Halloween was HERE, and I had NOTHING! I scrambled and managed to do an impromptu cemetery (with lit candles in front of each stone) and a scarecrow before the ToTs started showing up.

Needless to say, that was the last time I'd allow myself to experience that panic attack.
"Waiter, there's a hair in my soylent green!"
