I'm going to build a few new tombstones this year and was wondering what to put on them. Then I thought, you live in Utah one of the most "Haunted" states in the US so why not incorporate a little of the local lore into your display. So I'm going to build at least three new stones, one with be Stingy Jack of course but, the other two will be from local ghost stories, here links to the ones I'm going to do. Anyone else incorporate local ledges into your display?

I love the idea of incorporating local lore into a haunt. Where I live, we really don't have any local lore, so after my latest remodel, I'm going to create some local lore specific to my home.
Our house was built in 1984 as a 1.5 story Cape Cod style home. After the remodel, I will have a home that looks more like a 19th century Victorian, so I've asked my wife to write a new back story for our home and haunt as if our "Victorian Mansion" was built on the site in 1884. With that, I hope we can introduce new lore to the area and new tales (rumors) about the house.

Since I lack originality and I am not aware of any local legends I use the name of the demons that reside in our garage (Uzzath's Underworld) for many of the names on the tombstones. All of the demon tombstones have either angels or crosses adorning the stone just to mess things up a little. It's one way I try to kep the underworld and cemetary connected.

I have vague notions of doing an urban legends haunt at some point in the future, in which case I would definitely incorporate some of the strange local legends. I already own a book about Chicago ghost stories I picked up for free at a garage sale, and even the simplest searches on Amazon for "haunted [state or city]" and "weird [state] turn up some promising titles.

My Haunted House is haunted. When i was trying to buy this house elderly people in town warned me Not To Buy It!
Because it is haunted.
I have been given the credit for some pretty darn impressive special effects.. that I sure do not know how to do.(Thanks!)
The things that have happened here are not like a Hollywood horror movie but there is quite a "laundry List" of the things that have occurred here since 1925.
When I tell people about them I insert some attempted humor so as not to terrify anyone, hopefully.
This property has been an inn, a house of ill-repute, a schoolhouse, a Oldsmobile dealership, a speakeasy tavern, an apartment house.
One theory concerning why/how a place might be "Haunted" might fit this place:"A place may be haunted if it is on top of a big chunk of solid rock. The rock is a psychic-energy storage battery."
This house is built 20 feet from the edge of a cliff, the wine cellar here is chiseled from solid rock! Ravens Grin Inn, in Mount Carroll, ill."My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

I have a lot to work with in my area so I'm going to build a few new stones each year until my graveyard has all Utah/Halloween ties.

Heh....I thought this quote from the John Baptisite article says alot:
"However, his story deserves to be told. It is strange even by Utah's bizarre standards."
I am shocked to find out that Utah has bizarre standards
