I'm planning on doing a patch that will be a part of my yard haunt as well. No plans yet, just need to research some more as I've never done one before.

That sounds great. I always do a patch, some years turn out better than others.

A patch within the haunt is a great idea.

We've done a patch for a few years now, each with it's own ups and downs. We've tried a few varieties of pumpkins with varying degrees of success. Found a bunch of different seeds at a home show my wife and I attended last year. Too many choices for the small patch we have. Not sure which ones to grow this year.

There's also a great pumpkin patch thread here: 2011 Pumpkin Patch Thread
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread, it's just that there's a lot of great info in there.

We had such screwy ( waterlogged) weather this past year that I am going to start my seeds in Jiffy pots. Still outside, but able to drain ( many of my seeds rotted away first go around).I have a steep bank that runs the length of the indoor arena and I plant them on the bank..just move the section. Some yrs good some years bad. Had borers in a few vines this year so I may try to move them to a completly different area..Thinking about sneaking down into the crop field the boss rents out to a local farmer and sticking a few plants in with his corn :-)

Yep. Also plan on doing some Indian corn as well.
