In today's news they are saying that 100-120 Sears/Kmart stores will be closing. I see Kmart ads all the time on TV in my area year-round and love their Totally Ghoul line of halloween items. I hope the line has been a good seller for them so they continue with it but wonder if they do, that they will just increase pricing which I hope not. BTW two years ago or so Sears was the one that had that outrageously cool zombie website set up for haloween that people here were commenting on. Never seen anything quite as cool since then.
They closed all the Kmarts near me a number of years back so I have a bit of a drive to go to one and only twice made the trip, but I have ordered online for halloween/garden items (OK that was really for halloween too!). My closest location was an OK store clean and well maintained and not trashy like the one they closed down. There are a few Sears in shopping centers in the Bay Area, most of them anchors, so wonder what will happen to them. From Sears I've only ordered a zombie poster in the past, and we don't live that close to any of them either. Sounds funny to say but from my perspective I hope they don't close any more Kmarts near me. Sears Holdings hasn't announced the location of the closures yet but they will be posted on http://www.searsmedia.com/ when announced. I'm sure this will affect some of you out there and your halloween and after-halloween shopping as well.

Yeah I was worried about K-Mart when Sears bought them out. Let's hope it's not too many, & maybe it helps them stay in business.

You have that a little backwards Ween. Kmart purchased Sears. Strangely, right after a bailout from chapter 11, in 2002-03 I think it was. Some called it a corporate merger, but that's not really what it was. Eddie Lampert pulled a genius corporate takeover in 2004, by manipulating Sears into giving him the money ($900 mil. iirc) to buy out their stock options. All under the guise of selling them (Sears) K-mart retail locations for premium prices, while Sears was in a serious slump. Driving stock prices lower, and Eddie was buying stock to leverage against them the whole time.
While it seemed on the surface, an amiable merger. It was in fact, a hostile takeover. With a smile on the victims face, because they had no idea what was going on.

Lol! Tbh, I really don't think there are any that I would term as being "respectable", in the area of big business corporations. You don't get big by playing nice with others. Or, at least that's what history has taught us, more's the pity. Morals, & successful business, are two mutually exclusive terms from what I can tell. Which is why my business will never be "successful". Because, I can't justify 1000% plus markups, and look myself in the mirror. Idealism, is a...

I was at our Kmart the saturday before xmas and noticed how there was only 3 registers open and 3 people per line. I knew that was trouble so close to the holidays. I admit I only shopped there during halloween clearance and always got great deals but this summer they were a lifesavor for me when I stumbled across $3-4 clothing after losing 50lbs. I'm gonna miss them if we lose ours

Kmart is one of my favorite stores anymore, so I hope that they don't do anything too drastic. Along the lines of what Deadna mentioned, over the last few years, I have found more clothes there than anywhere else; granted, they charge too much at times, but you can catch good deals if you wait long enough. This last Halloween was a bit of a disappointment, since most items were just rehashes, but I'm willing to excuse that a bit

I use to love kmart but they closed the one I went to.There is another but it is 20 minutes further than the first one.
I order online all the time tho.I would say the totally ghoul line is safe most items I see are gemmy products bearing the brand totally ghoul.Price may go up but that happens every year.As long as they stay open I would say we haunters are good.If they close all stores(not happening right now)I would be very sad.
