I dunno about a vegas type city or how profitable it would be, but I would move there in a heartbeat!

I am a haunted house that is open every night of the year for almost 25 years.
The small downtown around the corner from me looks like a Hollywood movie set from the 1870's. A Halloween Town sure could be here 2 1/2 hours due west of Chicago, ten miles from the Miss. river, 35 miles from Wisc. , ten miles from Iowa.
If I won millions that is what I would do, right here in Mount Carrol. Illinois.
45 miles away is Galena, "The Home Of General Grant" a preserved 1860 town which sees 3 or 4 million visitors every year
The city grave yard(also My westerly neighbor) looks right down Market Street from the hill . 6,500 grave markers up there, this is a town/village of 1,700 surrounded by cliffs, trees, a river and woods and cornfields.
People have asked me if I owned the whole town?
There are the antique street lights, the 1910 brick streets, the Civil War monuments & cannons around the courthouse square. Just owning every downtown building, renting the first floor back to the present businesses then having robotic mannequins on the second floor looking out the windows dressed in 1880 clothes would be really something in and of itself, as minor as that would really be.
Marc Cline from Natural Bridge, Va. donated several large fiberglass dinosaur heads to a small town off the 4 lane, they mounted them looking out the second floor windows, rooftops and guess what? People began pulling off the 4-lane to come into that small burg! New products were now being sold there, tees, model toy dinos, ex cetra!
I know a man who was a fund raiser for a failing museum. they hired a man from England, he made some dinosaurs, they displayed them outside, their yearly attendance figures went way up and up! They were no longer financially behind the old eight ball!
Less than a mile from Mount Carroll is a YMCA camp that when it was a private park 100 years ago was considered the most beautiful spot in Illinois, winding little river cutting deeply through the cliffs....
Money, time, ideas, an incredible triple combo if they can find a way to all be there at once.
type in www.gocarrollcounty.com for a peak at the town, kind of...

I agree with most of you that it needs scaled down. Alot of the attractions could close throughout the year. If people start building houses outside the town, and slowly but surely more business's started being built up, it could become a small city. You could also Christmas up the town for the Xmas holiday...prolong it that way. In the summer you could have HORROR CAMP, base it off of Friday the 13th and summer slasher movies.

Where do you think a good location would be? Keep in mind weather, population, etc.
