Here's the video of this year's haunt which includes my new "drop panel" prop. Got some good scares with it.

Great! I love the reactions from you CCTV, they were priceless. I love doing this and I'm always amazed at how easy it is to scare people. Come on it's all make believe, or at least I think so. The whole haunt was just fantastic. I think it's time for a drop panel in my haunt, so simple and yet so effective.
Thanks for posting.Boo!

The lady who commented that your haunted house gets better and better each year is right on. I love your stuff. You really create a perfect atmosphere. Great props and placement. The drop panel is fantastic. Something I keep on my list of things to do and keep saying "next year". The kids at the 7:10 mark and the last little kid gave some classic screams. Well done!

Thanks for sharing, The Dark Gardener. Agreed- you did a great job. The drop panel was an obvious hit. My favorite prop was the column with the skeleton pieces embeded in it. And I like how you used pumpkin guts in your haunt. You have a lot of little details that were well thought out and incorporated.

Thanks for the feedback.
The column is simply two concrete footing forms taped together. The small plastic skulls (from Walgreen's) were glued on and the forms were covered with drywall compound.
The drop panel was my one new prop for this year. I thought about making one and actually decided against it. But when I started working on the haunt in early October, I reconsidered. It meant a slight break from my usual modus operandi. I've never had anything that could be considered a "big scare" in my haunt before. I always go for creating a spooky atmosphere and letting the trick-or-treaters scare themselves. The drop panel was pretty easy to make and was inexpensive. And best of all, it was effective."Rotting corpses make lovely fertilizer." -- The Dark Gardener

Hallow DG! Your drop panel is THE BEST!!! Worked REALLY well and loved that one woman brought her kids back to scare them a second time!! SO fun. Great job on your entire haunt! BOO!
(How did you set up the drop panel area? Are you elevated and standing on something? And was that where you handed out the treats? )" TO SERVE MAN " ... IT'S A COOKBOOK!"
