Usually, after Halloween I am already planning next year's additions and set up changes. Not this year. I'm not thinking about Halloween at all.Is it because I ran out of time and didn't complete my set up? Is it because of the poor economy and uncertainty that comes with it? Or a combination of the two? Or is there something more going on? I think I need to lay down on the couch and work this out. My kids are already looking forward to next year. We had teenagers nearly wet their pants or if they did actually wet their pants, they didn't admit it. A few kids and some parents did not enter our cemetery this year. We had good numbers and a good increase from last year and tons of compliments. I haven't even been on the forum lately. Not sure anyone noticed. Can someone please inject me with some Halloween Venom so I can begin planning our 2012 haunt.

There's nothing wrong with a break. Why must it always come down to something wrong? A busy holiday season is upon us. Enjoy it- life...it goes too fast to begin with. There's more to life than halloween. The count down clock is at a comfortable 300 plus days. Take some time and decompress. Eat, drink and be merry. Ring in the new year. If something sparks an idea over the winter, great. If not, consider doing the same setup for halloween next year- maybe even getting the whole thing done next time. That, instead of the pressure of something new, bigger, better. I usually jump on sales after halloween. This year nothing moved me. Nothing I really wanted or needed. No new ideas as of yet. So what- I'll wait to see the new stuff next season and see if that sparks an idea for a new scene. If not, I'll take next year and just do the same setup as this year- a massive display as it stands. It'll be easier since I've set it up once already. An easier year- one year. I doubt anyone would notice it's the same display and I'll wager they'd love it just the same.
Spin a negative or spin a positive. You're in control my friend. Cut yourself some slack. Lay on that couch...but enjoy it.

I am in the same position as you. Have no plans and dont care to think about Halloween at all at the moment. Right now Im focusing on my studies and maybe during the summer the halloween bug will bite me again but for now I dont see that happening anytime soon. I just finished putting all my Halloween decor and haunt away and actually Im loving the open feeling the house has now! Nothing wrong at all its quite normal for some...not all...but for some

Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

I think you need to have yourself committed, but that's just one man's opinion.

I have to agree with GhostTown, you need to see a Shrink! You've got Halloween Overload and need to get it fixed ASAP.

Halloween was only 2 weeks ago. We all had a busy season leading up to the big day and frankly, a lot of us DON'T live it 365 days a year!! Move on to other things. I completely agree with Shockwave. Relax and get it out of your mind. Fretting about not having ideas is only going to create a bigger mental block. Ironically, my son and I sat down on Saturday and sketched out next year's haunt, including making lists of new scenes and things we can start accumulating for next year. It was fun, but life is moving on towards Christmas/winter/other things so Hallowen will get put on the back burner for now. It's kind of "always" on the back of your mind, but it's not something we dwell on. It was a great season and we're looking forward to next year, but time to unwind and decompress.

Americans sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I'm glad it's over and I'm almost packed up. I was able to get back to the gym this week and actually found time to cook a couple of meals.

Perfect advice! Enjoy a break. Many members feel, even if they aren't "burned out", exhausted and a little empty after Halloween. It takes a ton of effort to do what we do! Enjoy the holidays and put Halloween completely out of your mind. Even if you wait until next spring or summer, there's still plenty of time to start planning 2012 - and with a little rest and relaxation, it just might be your scariest yet!

I went the other direction many years ago. I increased the dosage, then increased it more. I live in my haunted house , have it open for tours almost every night of the entire year, this way "Jim" gets most of the fun. Maybe it's my personally prescribed therapy? Entertaining people, frightening them a little, seeing them laugh about it two seconds later.
I get maximum enjoyment because I made all the creative choices here and have made the majority of what everyone sees and enjoys here.
Scaring people with "10cent items" I made myself trips my "trigger" and we get to laugh together even more.
